I was wondering if anyone has been to Eataly in NYC. From what I heard it just opened up in August. It seems really interesting and I was thinking about taking a trip over to check it out.

Reviews are lukewarm but they have gelato! That would make it worth the trip for me. Right now, the only place I know to get good gelato is in Grand Central Station on the bottom floor in the food court. There is a gelato stand there that I love so much. I wish you could get gelato like you can ice cream, in the grocery store!

I need to get my eyes check! I thought this said fatality in NYC. I was thinking....yeah....:confused3 :rotfl:

Made a special trip up to NYC from So Jersey for Eataly. Huge foodies in our house. Loved the place despite the reviews. OK, the great---the quality of the food----buffalo mozzerella, cheeses, italian meats, bread, pasta wow what can I say they were great. Also italian shelf staples, fantastic also. The good, the eateries are all very good--homemade pizza was so fresh tasting. The ok--the bakery items, all tasted ok, but they weren't what I call Italian, just small pastries but nothing like you find in Italy, almost seems like an after thought--we have food so we better have desserts. The bad--the crowds after 10:30am, tons of tourist and not buying anything and the layout of the restaurants mixed in with the selling space--it doesn't work and you have people waiting in line to eat, but blocking tons of the shelves with products.
