Eat Your Salad! Our WONDERful double dip June '10 UPDATE 10/14

so the answer is yes. We got SOAKED going back to the ship!

But first a very scary cab ride down the FLOODED streets! he took a "back way" It was quite creepy!

Our cabbie last year took the "back way" too...I was just waiting for the driver to pull over and his friends to jump in and us all get murdered. I have a way too active imagination!!

Great pictures! So, do tell...is Mr. "Eat Your Salad" Man any of those in the above pics? :rotfl2:

haha yes Ricardo, I am in a pic with him, he is in his pirate outfit (first pic of me with a pirate)

Being from NOLA, and staying at Port Orleans, did you find it was "too much" New Orleans? I'd like to stay there next October, but my hubby says being from here, it may not be enjoyable.. Your thoughts? Figured I'd ask another NOLA girl!

Thanks!:flower3:

hello! We stayed at riverside, which is more MS bayou/plantation than neworlens-y. I do not think I could ever stay at french quarter though to be honest. This was beautiful though, very old south, kind of gone with the wind if you ask me!

Great update! Looks like you had a lot of fun on Pirate Night!

it was fun to talk like pirates all night, aarrgghh!

ok so we left off sining Disney tunes on the front of the boat.

ok...I will be honest about the pirate party...it was a letdown. i was super excited about it...and I don't know why. We had way more fun at dinner! Now, I understand if you are a kid its super fun. they ha all these dance moves and stuff, but as an adult...I got really, really, bored. All I wanted to see was mickey come down, and the fireworks, which of course were at the very end. Next time we will skip all together or just come at the end for the fireworks.

As soon as the party was over my parents went to bed, and a line formed, FAST for the buffet. I wasn't feeling great, so bobby got in line and I went back to the room, got ready for bed and watched a movie.

Bobby came back to the room with his food. I have no idea how he carried it all, plus a drink!

he ate, I slept, we were both happy haha!

up next, day at sea!

Oh, I know what you mean about the Pirate Party. The fireworks are really what it's about. If they could maybe cut the singing/dancing/etc. down a bit, it might not be so bad...seems that just stretches on forever!

Great photos again!

I agree somewhat about the Pirate Party. I thought it was too long (especially when you're standing), and I kept thinking, when is Mickey coming. But I enjoyed it for the most part. Totally missed the buffet though.

Great trip report, I am really enjoying reading about your vacation.

Your husband is too funny! He is so excited to have gotten a turkey leg.
Did you order any room service on the ship?

I'm loving your TR! It sounds like you had a wonderful time.

We missed Castaway Cay due to the weather on our first cruise; we have a cruise booked on the Dream in 2011; hopefully it will work out this time!

Beautiful pictures!:flower3:

oh he LOVES turkey legs! He was very happy

The Disney smokestackes are my favorite!
arent they pretty? love it!

What a beautiful picture. I've set it as my desktop. It'll help the next 57 days go by a little quicker.
aw I am flattered! I hope your trip comes fast!

bummer! thats one reason we chose the double dip...we did NOT want to miss CC, so we figure we would get to go at LEAST one out of the two times!

Sea Day!

our plans for this day were...well..not much! We knew we wanted to check out the adult pool, and we were hoping to get 4 chairs all together!

But first, breakfast at beach blanket!
DSC01149.jpg

We then headed out to the chairs, and magically we got the LAST FOUR padded chairs by the pool. I don't know how we lucked up! People were walking around like vulchers trying to get chairs!

DSC01152.jpg

I was really ito a book I was reading, so I read in my chair, then would go read in the pool, etc.
My dad and bobby get bored sitting and doing nothing at the pool so we only stayed an hour or so.
DSC01156.jpg

they could only take so much haha
DSC01158.jpg

so we headed inside to eat beach blanket for lunch. Our chairs were taken IMMEDIATELY. It's like they were watching!

I was a little disapointed with the sea day buffet. The embarking day lunch was SO much better.
Bobby seemed to like it though....what's new.

My mom and dad went to take naps, and Bobby and I headed to the gym. It was pretty uneventful, I watched world cup soccer on my little TV screen. I fisnihed before Bobby so i left and walked around the boat and then my mom and I delivered our FE gifts.

Late rmy mom and dad went to cove cafe to relax and get some coffee and I walked the decks looking for them and finally found them in there so I hung out with them for awhile.

That night was the optional dress up night. 5 night cruises don't technically have a "formal night" though. We were lucky our meal was in Tritons that night!

We got ready early so we could go take pictures in the lobby.
I willpost more later, AS USUAL photobucket is having loading issues. Does anyone else ever have this problem?

I'm sorry the pirate party was a disappointment. I agree, we had a lot of fun at dinner, and alot of people had great costumes, but the party was mostly for the kids. I enjoyed watching the kids enjoy the time. I didn't know there was a buffet at first - once we saw it, everything was gone already.
Looking forward to seeing your dress up night!

Great update! I was one of those vultures trying to get a chair at the adult pool!! There definitely aren't enough of them on sea days.

Seeing your beautiful pictures reminds me that we never did eat outside at Beach Blanket Buffet (or even step foot outside where the tables are). Darn, I meant to do that. Oh well, something for next time.

Oh no, don't do this to me.....can't wait to see you all :goodvibes:goodvibes
sorry lol! I just can't take it when photobucket won't behave!

hopefully more this weekend, so sorry its taking so long! if you get bored go read my blog in my siggy lol!

Ooh I like the padded chairs at the adult pool, they didn't have those the last time we were there. Your sea day seemed very relaxing, what it's meant for! Looking forward to hearing the rest of the day.
