Eat from freezer/pantry this week??

Jennifer, you're very ambitious, I've never heard of anyone making tortillas....is it hard?

Sat - we're going to inlaws so no cooking for me:cool1: Good thing cause I'm running out of freezer food LOL
Just have ground sirloin and chicken drumsticks left.
Next week I have to get boneless chicken breasts and maybe some fish, veggies and fruit. I went all this week without shopping for food:thumbsup2

I'm in for this week. I have this week and next to clean out my freezer before I do "cook day" Cook day is something I do with 5 other friends from church, we get together and put together 25 meals for our freezers. When I come home I usually can not fit everything in my freezer unless it is empty. So I am in and will be cooking items out of our freezer and might even add the pantry to clean it out as well.

I have a box of popsicles in there, I guess we will be getting lots of treats this week ;)

I'm in!!!

Mon- breakfast: cinnamon rolls and sausages, Lunch: hubby took me out for my B-Day!!!
Dinner: ball tip steaks, poutine (canadian french fries with cheese curds and gravy) and green beans...OUR splurge for the week was that DH bought me a DQ ice cream cake for my birthday! YUUUUMMMMM! But, I didn't spend more than $9 at the store last week, so we are still under budget!

Wed.:Bkfst: waffles and bananas Lunch: left overs/sack lunch Dinner: Taco night! I have about 5 pkgs of taco meat ready to go in the freezer, and more tomatoes, onions and green peppers than I know what to do with in my garden. Only thing I need for this is lettuce!

UGH!

I stink at this.

I just went twice to the grocery store and didn't buy just what was on my list....I bought a lot of other stuff as well.

Now, I did stick within my usual budget, but my cupboards are so overloaded right now and I NEED to not buy extras unless they are free or close to free.

I think I am going to start on Wed. as it is the first day of Sept. and really THINK before I head to the store.

Dawn

S

It's not too hard. Just takes some forming. I've found that the homemade ones don't do so well the next day. So, we have to eat them all that day. I don't know if it's something I'm doing or what.

ive been doing really good with eating what we have. yesterday i made pasta with meat sauce and salad. i had fish fillets in the freezer-made those tonight with rice and green beans. i have to run to the store tomorrow and pick up a quart of milk and a loaf of bread but that's it.

tues- Italian sausage, oven fried potatoes, and a veg from the freezer.
wed-chicken patty sandwiches, mac and cheese, veg from freezer.
thurs-frozen sweet and sour chicken dinner
friday-meatloaf, mashed potatoes, veg from freezer
saturday-turkey and stuffing casserole, veg from freezer
sunday-not sure yet

when i get back from vacation i want to keep this up. it will be nice to use up what i have.

Thanks to all of you for motivating me to eat from what we've got on hand!:)

This week I am down to ground beef and chicken drumsticks, pasta, broccoli and romaine lettuce, eggs, and pb&j but I can make that work until DH gets paid on Thursday. Tomorrow I'll need to get milk, bread and produce.

I am going to continue to try this for one more week. Not sure what we will be having as I need to take inventory tonight.

Anyone else?

Hi everyone :)
I was looking for this thread! I am going to try and go 14 days without buying meats and only spending $30 or less per week for the next 2 weeks.

I did a meat inventory and I have

3 chicken breasts
2 pieces cod used 9/5 dinner
2 pieces salmonused 9/5 dinner
3 pieces tilapa
1lb ground beef used 9/4 dinner tacos
1 lb bacon
2 lbs sausageused 1 for breakfast 9/5
1 bag cooked bacon bits
20 hot dogs
6 chedder brats
4 pork steaks -3 used 9/3 dinner
5 good pork chops
1 package ham lunch meat
4 cans cheap tuna
2 cans good albacore tuna

We are a family of 4 with DH and I, DD 17 (who is 6' ft!), and DD 9
We will be carrying lunches to school (me, dd 17, and dd9) and work (dh)

We have a fully stocked pantry and I will use the $30 per week for milk, fruit, veggies. You all have great ideas and I am looking forward to cheering us all on :cheer2:

I'm not sure I can plan every meal out but for a start:

MON9/6 fettachine (thank goodness it tasted better then I spelled it!) alfredo, green salad. Dessert: fruit
TUES 9/7 Chedder brats, macaroni salad, fruit

On another note I found 4 (!) tubs of cool whip in my freezer, lol How to use that all up?

I am going to try this week also! I just need help. I have 19 bags of ground meat in my freezer. (deer) I do not buy ground meat but have to use it up before Nov. since deer season starts then. I am just out of ideas. :confused3

You can only eat so much spaghetti and enchiledas but DH will not eat meatloaf. Any suggustions would help!:worship:

Chili! I love venison chili. What time should I be over?

You can also use it for Sloppy Joes, venison burgers [mix it with a little pork to help it hold together], and a layer taco dip.

im joining in on this for this coming week. friday is our grocery shopping day but the only thing i am going to buy is eggs, bread, milk, salad, and fruit. im going to look in the pantry/freezer and see what i can do with what i have. will post later.

I started doing this yesterday. I'm in college and somehow ended up with a lot of freezer items in the past 6 weeks plus leftovers.

Today- leftover chicken stuffed with spinach and feta, carrots w/hummus and pineapple

Sat- Tuna w/ peppers, onion and tomato and macaroni and cheese

Sun- Frozen grilled fish, baked potato and bell pepper slice w/hummus

Mon- I dont know what I'm doing...I have a doctors appointment 1 1/2 hours away at 3PM so I will be driving home at aroun 4:30 PM in LA traffic. It might be an in-n-out night

Tues- frozen grilled fish, frozen split pea soup and fruit

Wed- Going home for Veterans day

12/5-manicotti, salad garlic bread
12/6-meatloaf, peas, mashed potatoes
12/7-taco shepherds pie
12/8-breakfast for dinner
12/9-cheeseburger rice, veg from freezer
12/10-homemade cheese pizza, salad
12/11-leftover night
12/12-spaghetti,meatballs, salad

i did some major grocery shopping. my cabinets are packed and so is the freezer. my goal is to use up what i stockpiled and only buy basics for the next few weeks. lunches will be leftovers. breakfast will be any combination of bagels, eggs, toast, fruit, pancakes, cereal, and other items i have stockpiled. i hate to buy food then have to toss it because it is past its expiration. anyone want to join me?

ive done good so far! we had the taco shephards pie last night no tonight we are having the meatloaf. no eating out for lunch or dinner so for this month. my lunches this past week have been leftover manicotti from sun. i have a serving left of the manicotti. im going to throw it in the freezer for a lunch next week. have a good one everyone!!

i am bumping this thread up! any one want to join me. do you have full freezers and cupboards but still go out and buy more? do you have areas overflowing with shampoos, conditioners, etc... post your sucesses here. lets use up what we have before we buy more!!!

i

Good to see this thread again. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
Reminder that I have not even looked in the deep freeze since the holidays,

If this ice storm does bring down the wires it will be a huge declutter. If the temp stays below freezing somethings can pack in snow, but if it warms up yikes.

But I am doing a deep freeze challenge
Code:
this week. I just wish it was meat and not all the prepackaged dinner dh bought...you can only eat so much Oncore Dinners.

I'm doing this not by choice but by necessity because of the storms. Wednesday dinner will be Slow Cooker Italian Wedding Soup & Thursday is up in the air. Possibly chicken nachos.
