Taken from DLRP Today http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2008/08/14/eat-express-in-40mins-for-19-euros/

Disney is infamous for its fast food, but also famous for its great table service. Mix the two and what do you get? A concept from the US parks that promises to serve you proper food faster, getting you back out there to enjoy the rides, for a smaller cost.

This so-called “40-Minute Lunch Menu” was first introduced at Walt’s - An American Restaurant in Main Street U.S.A. last month and has now been extended already to two other table service restaurants at Disneyland Park.

At Silver Spur Steakhouse in Frontierland, you can hop on the “Pony Express” set menu for €19.90 to choose from three main courses — including both steaks and salads — with a “gourmet coffee”, all served in 40 minutes.

Meanwhile, Blue Lagoon Restaurant in Adventureland offers the option to sail by the winds of the “Alizé Express” set menu for the same price, with another pick from three different main courses, and again a gourmet coffee to finish.

This new €19.90 set menu seeks to fill up and maximise the capacity of these three table service restaurants in the middle of the day during Summer, when lines at fast food outlets are longest and many people are still in too much of a hurry to stop for a longer lunch.

By allowing guests to pay less and giving the tables a quicker turnover, it seems to give both sides a good deal.

Seems like a win-win situation to me and a great idea!

I think this is a good idea for those who enjoy table service restaurants, but also want to get more time in the park.... :thumbsup2

Indeed it does, so long as they don't sacrifice food quality and / or service quality in order to reach the 40 minutes.

Bearing in mind that these are all 3 course set menus if I remember rightly, 40 minutes doesn't seem all that long to me.

I thought they were two courses?? Like a main and then a gourmet coffee....

So there is. I could have sworn I read it as being 3 courses when I was in DLRP last month. Oh well

Sounds interesting, i wonder if its only over the summer. I fancy trying blue lagoon but i cant fit it in to our evening schedule and we wouldnt eat alot a lunch so there would be good.....

I don't like gormet coffee so this doesnt suit me.. great for fast eaters and coffee lovers though.

The gourmet coffee (Cafe Gourmand) in most places consists of a coffee and a small selection of mini desserts. I often have this as dessert when we go. Ive had it in Annettes, Walts and Cafe Mickey

We often like eating our main meal earlier in the day as we miss the crowds and then use the time when most people are eating or queueing in the evening to do some rides. Unfortunately for us this will probabaly mean the restaurants are more crowded at lunchtimes meaning it will take even longer to have a proper meal (as opposed to an express meal)

Annettes seems your sort of place really Emma!! Cheesecake isn't my thing, but it seems to have made you happy!
