Easy way to earn points with your Disney Visa

When we paid for our daughters undergraduate degree her university only charged a 15.00 service fee for using a credit card so I used to pay her tuition every semester with my disney card then withdraw the money from her Vanguard education account to payi it off.
I had never really thought of paying our son's tuition this way. I just looked up his school's policy and it states: "A 2.75% convenience fee will be assessed for all credit card transactions." I'm guessing that would negate any rewards from Disney Visa?

Alternative: I did this for the first couple of years and didn't really see the benefit since the reward percentage was lower than other cards. I/we then started with two new cards: one airline and once hotel. Now we pay our monthly bills on those cards which has a higher reward rate in addition to free flights and hotel stays. In just one year, we already have two flights that we can use anywhere including Disney as well as hotels. However, the hotel reward card also has different gift cards we can purchase. This plan has worked well for us. I just wish I could pay my mortgage on the card and rack up them points as well!

I was researching this just last night. One particular blog said to only get an airline miles card if you have another high-reward travel card. (She recommended Chase Sapphire). This sounds like the strategy you are using? I have the Disney Visa and IGH (Priority Club) which we've had for 20 years. I'm seriously thinking of two new cards, but I don't know if I should cancel the old ones or just quit using them.

Wow. $15 is a steal. It has been 2-3% in all the information we have. I would pay as much tuition as I could on a credit card.

I tried when I bought my truck. Dealer would not do any charge at all.

Unfortunately, these "convenience fees" are getting out of hand.

I just bought 2 cars in the last 2 months . Chevy deanship let us put $5000 downpayment on the card and the 2nd was a used car for my daughter and they let us put $3500. Great way to rack up points! We put everything we can think of on the card including the utility bills and our car insurance, and pay it off in full at the end of the month. We are going in August and we had $1000 in points to use toward our package.

My grad school does not charge a fee! I do that to get points rather than paying with a check. This works fabulously if you are dedicated enough to never carry a balance month to month.

Great ideas!! I currently only have $85 lousy rewards. I need to get some more rewards!!

One thing we've always done with our Disney Visa is to use it to pay for a portion of any new car we, or my parents may buy. Most dealerships will let you put at least $5000 towards the purchase price on a credit card. In addition to putting almost everything we buy on the card, we also put my parents beach house rental, country club dues, and any other large payment they may make during the year. Things like that help us add points in a hurry.
We did this in May of 2014 when we replaced DHs pick-up truck. It was a major dealer and they let us pay for the entire thing with credit cards. I got the rewards dollars for our Sept '14 wdw trip and then used savings to pay off the credit cards..... cha ching! free money!

Edited to add: In Oct '14 we got the Citicard Double Cash card. It pays 1% on purchase and 1% when you for the purchase. We don't carry a balance so every month we get 2% on all of our purchases! Unlimited, no exclusions. We put utility, phone, daughter's tuition, etc etc on it. Our rewards balance (which we always use twd WDW trips) for this card is approaching $700 in just a few months!!!

There used to be a limit of $300 per year for rewards is that gone now? Or has it been raised?

probably recommending getting points which could be useful on many things, which the Chase sapphire preferred does.... they can be used for hotel, air, etc etc for rewards.
