Does anyone have a good appetizer (preferably make ahead or easy) idea for a progressive dinner? I keep looking online and not seeing anything I want to make.

My "always a hit" appetizers:

Buffalo Chicken Dip/Pita or Tortilla Chips/Celery
Queso Dip/Tortilla Chips
Hot Spinach Parmesean Dip/Pita

Cold Spinach Dip with Rye Bread

Cheese Board with Baked Brie and crackers

Pigs in a Blanket (doesn't seem like a make-ahead, but keep them wrapped in foil)

For something fancier-- Goat Cheese with Caramelized Fig

*As a last minute appetizer for our holiday party, I threw a couple of bags of frozen meatballs in the crock pot with some BBQ sauce. They were gone! Gone! Gone! Literally a 5 minute dish and it was a hit!

I love fried polenta toasts with a variety of toppings.

Although their carmelized onions look wrong. Properly carmelized onions should take at least an hour in a cast iron skillet at lowest heat. They should not have white color or burned color.

This is entirely make ahead, and you can change up the toppings. Try goat cheese and fig, proscuitto and arugula, any combo you like.

It looks swank, but it's not hard to execute. Try it a week ahead to make sure you've mastered it.

Tortilla Pinwheels, they can be made up the day before, wrapped in Saran, then you just slice them and serve with salsa for dipping. A sm. pkg. cream cheese, 1 1/3 c. Shredded sharp cheddar, 1/2 c. Sliced black olives, 1/4 c. Minced green onion, 1 minced clove garlic, 1/2 tsp. cumin. Stir together. Spread 1/4 mixture on each of 4 tortillas, covering completely. Arrange slivered jalapeños and red pepper in parallel rows on each tortilla. Roll up each tortilla tightly like a jelly roll. Wrap each roll in plastic, refrigerate until cold and firm. To serve, cut each roll into 12-15 slices. Serve plain, or with salsa.

A huge hit at two parties I've been too this winter:
(even overheard someone who is a picky eater profess that he loved it)

Prociutto wrapped Aspargus.

Ingredients are fresh aspargus, herbed cheese spread (like Boursin), thin sliced prociutto.

Spread cheese on aspargus, wrap with a slice of prociutto and place on baking tray. Fill tray and the place in preheated oven at 375 for about 10-15 minutes. Serve.

You can make ahead of time and refrigerate. Then cook when its your turn to host.

Caprese skewers - fresh mozz ball, cherry tomato and basil leaf on a tooth pick. I would drizzle/sprinkle a little balsamic vinegar over it just as it's being served.

I 2nd the caperese salad. Easy and healthy. I drizzle mine with a balsamic glaze that you can buy in a bottle. And the basil hits the spot.

Turkey cocktail meatballs..frozen turkey meatballs, grape jelly and chili sauce melted ..place in the crock pot and yummy..,easy

That looks great and easy! However, tomatoes are out of season. I am not sure how it would be with the tomatoes I am seeing in the stores. What do you think? I want summer to get here already! ha!

The tomatoes will be fine. Or you could splurge for organic tomatoes but I am confident that reg. ones will be just fine. I make this at least one or twice a week. :thumbsup2 I serve this as my veggie with my meals. The balsamic glaze really makes it tasty. Oh pita chips too are yummy served with this.

As for the mozzarella it would avoid getting it from the specialty cheese section of the grocery store, its more costly. Look in the reg. cheese section over in the dairy section.

I'm doing this for a party tomorrow night

Place a brick or half brick of cream cheese on a platter
Cover in a can of drained tiny cocktail shrimp
Cover with cocktail sauce
Serve with ritz crackers

Viola! It's very good, really

We love bacon wrapped shrimp and bbq sauce

We had bacon wrapped dates with bbq sauce, that was yummy.
