Eastern Pricing vs Western Pricing

Historically how does the eastern and western pricing compare? Are they generally about the same? We've done 2 Easterns in the fall in a 5c (2 adults and 2 kids). Thinking of planning for a western in 2017 and wondering if it will be about the same. Thoughts? Thanks!

From what I've seen, pricing is very similar but the Western is usually slightly higher. The reason that I've seen given is that the Western usually stops in more ports (3+CC versus 2+CC for the Eastern), therefore more port fees and taxes.

If there are more more ports, it usually will cost more but not always. Also, for 2016 they made a lot of the western's, star wars cruises which are high.

For what it's worth, we've done both eastern and western and both are great. I liked the ports better on the western, (and for some strange reason I couldn't take my eyes off Cuba while we sailed past it), but love having the extra sea day on the Eastern. We're planning another eastern when the June 2017 dates are released, I just really hope they continue with Tortola instead of St. Maarten. Also, n Jamaica I highly recommend the Tranopy Adventure for an excursion, it was almost as good as parasailing at Cadtaway Cay.

Interesting - I just realized I could simply compare rates for 2016 to get an idea (duh) so looking at the DCL site as well as the rates from opening day on Cruisefish for the fall (first week in October) it appears the western is slightly less than an eastern for the same time. Any ideas why? Is the weather generally less desirable on a western at that time?

Hmm, that's interesting, and reading a PP has got me thinking. When I've priced out cruises, the Eastern has always been a bit higher. So maybe it depends on the time of year.
