I will probably take advantage of rebooking in the ship during our cruise this October. Please help me decide which is better, Eastern or Western.

:)

Depends on what you like. Eastern has an extra day at sea amd great shopping. Western has better snorkeling and water activities.

BUMP

I really can't help you since I have only been on the Western. I had a great time.

Yup, it'll come down to your personal preference. I picked Eastern for the extra day at sea - I really want to take advantage of the ship. I love visiting other cities and cultures, but I don't think you get to experience too much culture on a one day trip. On the other hand, you can see sights and experience excursions you might otherwise never have a chance to see/do! So, either way, you can't lose. ;)

Another thing to consider is that DCL is having so many different itineraries in the next year - maybe you'll see one that strikes your fancy.::yes::

Well, I vote both. Back-to-back. If that isn't doable, our favorite was the Western.

my personal favorite is the eastern because I love the extra day at sea and don't really care for key west. Since we are doing western again this year and next I will just pretend key west is an at sea day and enjoy an empty ship :)
the eastern has (in my opinion) better shopping, but the western has more diversity and the stingrays are just too cool! on the eastern there is mountains and such, very lush, the western though has ruins to visit (have not been there yet)

We booked an Eastern cruise for this January so that we'd have the extra day at sea. But I have rethought that strategy. We were on the Wonder for a 4-day cruise in April and we stayed on the ship while most people got off to see Nassau. That was a great day because the ship wasn't crowded. On our day at sea in April, it was hard to find a deck chair although, don't get me wrong, it was a lovely day! I think we'll book a Western Magic cruise next time and just stay on the ship at one of the ports. Perhaps I feel that way because we've been to all the ports on both the Eastern and Western itineraries before but I LOVE days on the ship. Anyway, that's my two cents.
