Single mom with two little girls 2 & 3 all together 13 family members.
Day 1 Cape Canaveral
Arrival and check in went very smoothly for us no waiting on line (VIP status) if you dont be prepared to wait. After the welcome aboard picture, it was game on for Flounders and Palos.
There must have been 30-40 babies on board
so getting more then 3 reservations at flounders became a game. I only did get 5 slots the entire cruise I could have used one more night but space was very limited. Topsiders Buffet was very crowded I would recommend the sit down at Parrot Cay a little quieter. Make sure to ask about half price day at spa the rainforest room is wonderful.
Next it was off to settle in our room no sooner did we get there and it was Boat drill time, which scared my 2 & 3 yr. olds (that and the really loud flush of the toilet). Because MANDATORY does not apply to everyone we waited about 35 min not fun. The sail away party was a lot of fun.
Dinner at Lumieres was excellent, we made a habit out of ordering two appetizers, entrees or two desserts just to try a little of everything. The Welcome Aboard Show was OK if your going to miss a show pick this one. Day & nighttime activities, BINGO, and the game shows were a blast.
Day 2 At Sea
Breakfast at Topsiders was good (with the exception of the scrambled eggs) then it was off to the pool. Both the Mickey and the Goofy Pool were very crowded (always room at the adult only pool). There is a strict no saving chair rule so if you see one person put 5 towels down & walk away pick them up and have a seat. Remember this is your vacation you deserve a lounge chair by the pool. We watched one women place a towel on one chair a hat on another, a beach bag on another well you get my point.
At the Mickey pool there are three major rules kids only, kids wearing swimmies can only stay in a pool the size of a bathtub (with 1 inch of water) and 4 and up only on the Mickey slide. (very hard on my almost 4 year old). We still had a great time at the pool. Tea with Wendy was adorable my little girls were so well behaved.
Formal night the captains welcome: since your dressed to the 9s and so long as the kids can stand it, get your picture taken with several backgrounds. A note about the pictures all pictures taken with lights and a background will be 8x10 all others are 6x8 (with the exception of welcome pict.). If you get the package its only for 6x8s not 8x10s but still worth it. Animators Palate was my favorite night excellent food and atmosphere.
The weather started getting rough on the1st floor at the health center a basket of chewable magic pills for seasickness.
The Golden Mickeys was very enjoyable and 70s night lots of fun.
Day 3 At Sea
We loved the charc. breakfast the kids were so excited. I felt the photographers rushed it just a bit leaving almost no time for the kids to give the charcs. A hug. Palos for brunch was a dream come true excellent food and no children. The adults took a walk around the ship to burn of our brunch then off to Bingo.
Parrot cay has a fun atmosphere and great food. Hercules the Musical was a lot of fun. If you want a quiet adult getaway I recommend Cove Café its a little coffee house on deck 9.
Day 4 St. Maarten
A word about excursions dont book back to back if the bus is late (like ours) you will either have no lunch and run or miss the second execution completely. Oh ya when it says scenic bus ride its not scenic and over booked both girls had to sit on laps very dangerous. The bus driver in St. Maarten blamed everything on the politicians even the crooked palm trees. You will probably not get to shop in the 30 min window provided. The 12 Meter Regatta was a blast, Lagoon Kayaking got rave reviews, Anguilla Dolphin & Sting ray worth the money being an observer not, Catamaran always a good time and the Butterfly farm the bus ride was really bad but the Butterflys were Beautiful.
Tropical night was a blast from start to end. (another great picture night) If you dont dress in tropical attire you will really miss out.
Day 5 St. Thomas
Customs My advice eat first, Topsiders opens at 6am you will still make it through customs (it moves fast) and then go to your excursion. If you wait you will be eating at 6:45-7:30am with what seemed like the entire boat and they were all in a rush.
The Barefoot Bay catamaran & snorkel was lots of fun. The Submarine Adventure a little cheesy I was told. St. Thomas is a very short day so if you want to shop grab a hot dog and just go. About transportation on St. Thomas if they put you in an open-air safari vehicle, hang on for your life! Between the speed of the driver, him passing the other cars and hairpin winding roads it was no different then Islands of Adventure (except no seatbelts) a little scary.
If you have little girls dont miss the Princess
& Pirate
Party my girls got dressed up & danced with 6 charc. Quality time with the chac. Just as important as pictures.
Day 6 At Sea
The weather really got rough swells of 30-40 even with the high tech stabilizers THE BOAT WAS ROCKING and so was the hustle to buy Final BINGO cards. (you've got a be in it, to win it) At the pool surfs up! the Mickey pool was overflowing, the kids were having a blast.
Second dress up everyone looked great another chance for a family photo. Dinner at Parrot Cay everyone went woo and woo every time the boat rocked. (and not one plate dropped very talented wait staff) The show Disney Dreams with Wendy & Peter Pan, With a little Faith, Trust and Pixie dust the boat wont flip. (we thought it just might) and yet the performance was wonderful it went off without a hitch.
After lattes at the cove and the Gala Dessert Buffet, we were pretty wired. We decided to walk around the ship, however not a bright idea the boat still rocking water on the decks it was a little dangerous. We did however get one late night basketball game in before going to bed.
Day 7 Castaway
Loved it Loved it! Sand Castles, tubing, snorkeling, and a bike ride. The lunch at Cookies really hit the spot. Talking about cookies the choc. chip cookies are soooo good!
Dont miss Discover The Magic make sure your kids get back to the kids club, your little ones become the stars. Last Dinner at Lumieres best yet, my favorite steak & lobster. Farewell Show last but not least I liked it, then it was off to pack.
Day 8 Cape Canaveral Eat and get out!
Just a couple of suggestions traveling as a single mom with 2 little ones is hard I would recomend the DCL for children 5-12 My niece 8 spent the whole time at the kids club and had a blast. My nephew 14 was bored the entire trip. My 3 year old was tuckerd out too quickly at the kids club. (she fell asleep at dinner) All and all still a great trip!
