Thank you! So what do people usually do for gifts? I cabin gift or one gift per person? I don't want to over or under gift.

There have been a few discussions on this on the group page. They may help you determine what is best for you.

A quick run down however is:
There is no hard fast rule to giving FE gifts. The giving of gifts is as varied as the people giving them. Some people give only one gift to each cabin. Some people give a gift to each cabin each day. While still others give specialized gifts (like those in our group that are asking about last names or genders).
There is no wrong way to give. Nor is there a right way to give.
The advice that has been given previously is to figure out what works for you.
Look at your budget, your packing space, your time, and your skill level. Then decide how much you want to / can make, how much time you want to dedicate to delivering gifts, and if it is easier for you to make or buy gifts.

The key to taking part in the FE is to have fun and let your individuality shine through.

I hope this answers your question.

Just found this thread! First time Disney Cruisers for our family of 5 (me, DH, DD 9, DS 5, DS 3). Super excited...we will be at WDW Poly the week before cruise...first family vacation in years! Surprising kids and looking forward to a wonderful time.

Would love to join group if possible and not sure we will be doing FE and know it is late in game.

:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:
We are excited to have you join us.

There is a lot going on. To catch up, and see if there are any meets you want to take part in, you will want to head over to our group page as soon as you can. (I will send you an invitation shortly).

If you decide you want to take part in the late comers FE, you will want to contact PontiusPython. Also, there is a sign up on the group page under the database section labeled 'Late Comers FE - Group III'.

Have fun planning.

Tink

Looks like we posted simultaneously, Tink ;)
Even though it's well after 1am I'm still wide awake, 'cause my kidney acted up again  But the pill I took is already working and I hope to be able to be fast asleep soon.

Thanks for jumping in and helping with the welcome mat :thumbsup2

How long before they expect you to be back to normal with out flare ups
Are they expecting it to still be bothersome until the tube comes out?
Will you be ready for car racing on cast away :lmao:

I would sing you a German Lullaby if I knew one, but none of those were included in our lessons. So Gute Nacht will have to do. At least you don't have to work tomorrow morning :goodvibes

~Tink~

Thanks, Tink.
But even though I didn't have to work today I got up at 6am to pick up Anja from her nightshift at the hospital. It's just 10 minutes with the car, but a 35minute train-ride and walk.
I guess the kidney will act up as long as I have that plastic thing in it. Obviously my body considers this object as an unwanted intruder and so from time to time it kind of cramps. I have a cherry pit pillow that I can heat up in the microwave in a minute and the heat applied by it usually relaxes everything in a few minutes. Additionally I have to drink like a horse. Presently I'm at about 1.5 gallons of water a day.
On 8/30 the plastic rail will be removed and the week after I hope to be able to do sports again.

I guess when your led to water you will drink. :drinking1
You know, like the old saying, "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink".;)

I have to admit though, I did find your idea of a large intake of water a bit amusing. 1.5 gallons of water is a low intake day for me. But then again, I have previously mentioned that I am part fish.
How much do you normally drink?

Okay, since I know that no one is excited about our pending departure yet....:lmao:
I thought I might give you something that I viewed today to rev up those excitement engines.
Here are 2 YouTube videos that just may have you saying "Is it time to go YET???"

Enjoy :goodvibes

By the way, this months planning party is 'Pack the bags'.
I will actually be ready to set sail in a week :woohoo:

Well except for the fact that I still have not found time to make our Fish Extender. Does anyone have someplace they go through to buy pre-made ones at a descent price (in case I run out of time).

Usually I drink 3 to 4 litres (About a gallon), but then I do sports. Now I have to drink 50% more sitting around all day.
I think the maximum I ever drank was about 2.5 to 3 gallons. Once when we attended an 6hour aerobics marathon and once when we hiked from the Grand Canyon's South Rim down to the Colorado and back up to the Rim in about 10 hours at temps of up to 120°F.

Hi,

We are on this cruise for fall break. We were late registering for this meet up, but we contacted Pontiuspython, through our friend Wendy (Iwannabeaprincess) because we do not have enough posts to send PMs.

We would like to be added to the late-comers FE list.

We are Tammy, Doug, Abbey (10) and Emily (8) and we are in cabin 5186. This is our first Disney cruise! So excited and can't wait to be on the ship!

Pontiuspython, we will post some so we can be able to send our information to you via PM, as well.

Thank you,
Tammy

We'll be using a medium-sized canvas tote bag as our FE this trip. :thumbsup2

A suggestion for all FE Participants: It's a good idea to secure your FE to the "fish". We use zip ties from the dollar store (or hardware store). :thumbsup2

Just received this email from DCL regarding the new smoking policy...

Thank you for booking a Disney Cruise Line vacation.

As you may be aware, our ships are primarily designated as non-smoking ships. However, we recognized that some Guests smoke and strive to make a comfortable and enjoyable environment for all of our Guests.

From time to time, we make adjustments to our operation based on Guest feedback and are making a change to our smoking policy. While Guests have never been permitted to smoke in their staterooms, effective November 15, 2013, Guests will no longer be permitted to smoke on stateroom verandahs. Each ship will continue to offer open-air public spaces designated as smoking areas. Information on designated smoking areas can be found on our website at https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/planning-center/my-cruise-plans/faqs/health-safety/smoking.

Thank you again for sailing with us. We look forward to welcoming you onboard.

Sincerely,

The Cast and Crew

It's just amazing how quickly technology is advancing!!

While in college, my dear grandmother surprised me with an electric typewriter that had a pop-in/pop-out correction cartridge. It was very advanced at the time and everyone in the dorm managed to find my room whenever they needed to type a paper! It's sitting in the attic... where I stored it in case my children could use it when they went to college. :rotfl2: Saved my very expensive slide rule for them, too! :rotfl: Maybe I should donate them to a museum! :lmao:

Welcome to the group TDBurns
:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:
You are cutting it close, but we will get you all caught up and plugged in.
I will send you an invite to our group page shortly.
On it there is a table that you can add your info in for the late comers FE.
You will find it under the database tab on the left hand side. It is labeled 'Late comers FE - Group III'.

They're putting the screws on the smokers, don't they? ;)
They could have done it like at mall exits: You are allowed to smoke on your verandah, but you must stay at least 30ft away from the door :joker:

Mike,
I know what you mean: I showed my niece a vinyl record some time ago and a telephone with a rotating dial - she kind of freaked out how medieval we were when I was her age.

Evening all- just booked the doubloon turtle snorkel saint on st thomas. Anyone else doing this or done it in the past? Only decided on the spur of the moment when our friends mentioned it. Just been having a read and it looks loads of fun- really excited now!

St Martin we are going to get taxis to great bay beach and then over to mayo in the afternoon. Can't wait!

How's everyone else's plans coming along?

We're doing the "Kayak, Hike and Snorkel to Cas Cay" excursion on St. Thomas because our DD recommended it. She and her DH did it during their honeymoon on a different cruise line. She said the best part is ending up on a beach that is literally covered with hermit crabs - all you hear is the clicking of the crabs as they crawl all over each other! I don't snorkel, but I've been assured that I can wait on the beach until that part of the excursion is over. St. Thomas has been on my "Bucket List" for years, so I'm really excited about finally going there!

For St. Maarten, we're doing the group excursion that Oz set up (Thanks, Oz!!) that goes to Orient Beach, Maho Beach, and Marigot. Can't wait! :)

This will be our 12th time on Castaway Cay! You will find us lounging on Serenity Bay all day! We like to walk to SB, strolling past the family beach and then all the way down the old runway. At the end of the day, we're usually the last to leave the beach! :goodvibes

As for other plans for this trip, we're actually all set! Airline, rental cars, hotel and WDW dining reservations were made months ago for before and after the cruise. I've poured through Navigators to note events that we don't want to miss while on the ship. FE gifts are assembled, tagged, and packed! Door magnets are made and packed. Online Cruise Documents are filled out, printed, signed, and packed. Passports are packed. All that's left to do is notify our credit card companies, stop the mail and paper, transfer our Disney VISA Dream Reward Dollars, charge our camera batteries, and pack our clothes! :)

If anyone would like to share a ride from WDW to the port and/or from the port to WDW/MCO, please let us know. We have room for three people. Your cost would be $30 each way (total, not per person) and includes tolls and gas. We plan to leave the WDW area around 8:30am on Saturday morning, then make a quick stop at the Dreams Unlimited Welcome Center at the port, but we would drop you off at DCL's terminal first if this isn't something you're interested in doing.

Can't wait for our cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deb,
I am glad to see that someone else is as much of an Ubber planner as I am.
By the end of the week, our clothes will be packed and we will be set to go:cool1:
