Is Easter week really that AWFUL crowd wise? I may change my week based on your answers...thank you

MK has a history of closing to capacity at some point during that week. That's as bad as it gets.

That said, Easter is unique in that it moves around in the calendar. Maybe next year won't be *quite* as bad because it's late in the season?

It has a been more than a few years since I was there then, but at that time it did get very crowded, especially Magic Kingdom. But there were long hours at the parks too, so we would go early, and as it became really crowded around mid-day, leave , and return later on. I guess if I was doing it now, I would still go early, book my fastpasses for mid-day hours, then leave for a while and return later.

yeah I am now thinking of rebooking from 03/31 to 4/8 just to avoid that Easter week. thanks for the feedback.

The 2 weeks surrounding Easter are some of the busiest of the year. It's not quite as busy as Christmas, but it's close.

We were there the week before Easter a couple years ago, but our trip extended into the Monday of Easter Week. Now we know better than to go to the MK on a Monday on Easter week, but it was our last day before heading out on the Magical Express so we popped over for a last hurrah. Oh my goodness was it crowded! By late morning, I am talking elbow to elbow and having to give up on the concept of personal body space in most areas. DD and I were cracking up at how crowded it was, and saying that if this were the first time someone had ever stepped into a Disney park they would be thinking, "What is wrong with people who like coming here - NEVER AGAIN!" Lol It was an experience I'm glad I had, but don't know that I would ever dedicate a whole trip to such madness unless another week was out of the question. HTH! :flower:

Easter 2017 (April 16th) coincides with our public school vacation. So it isn't only Easter week, it's also many here in the Northeast's school vacation week.

We went for Easter Week on our last trip and it really wasn't that bad. The crowds were increased, yes, but we still had an awesome trip and having never been at a slower time than spring break, we really didn't have any issues. Just go in with realistic expectations and you'll have a decent trip.

we LOVE going in April and yes have been during Easter week. Never experienced horrible crowds. Rope drop, early lunch in park, then break at resort. We are doing it again April 17-24th!

also going on Easter week is STAR WARS CELEBRATION on Thursday-Sunday, so there will be even more people hitting up Disney in the days before and after; probably mostly the week after, since the runDisney Star Wars Dark Side Half Marathon is the following weekend.

It's also spring break here in Seattle too.

Most school districts in the U.S. (90+%?) schedule spring break the week before or after Easter, they roam with the Easter. I guess this year it'll overlap with many that have a fixed SB as well.

For the OP, reports were that those two weeks split by Easter were worst than ever this year.
