OK gang EASTER is in a week. Can you believe!! Easter is a wonderful day full of so much meaning. A time when family and friends gather together to celebrate. Many of the gatherings are to celbrate Easter in it's religous roots, many are a time to have fun and eat CANDY!!!!

It is some cruel twist of fate that has a giant rabbit with candy prancing around this time of year or do I really need to get my eyes (and my head) checked!!!! WHo knows!!

Easter is one of those times that can really be hard for those of us that are trying to eat better or foloow a certain way of eating. SO everyone you have one week!! Arm yourself!!! Make your plan for success today!!! The better prepared you are the easier to fight those visions of chocolate bunnies dancing in your head!!!

As for me, this should not be to bad!! It is just my Dh and I so there is no real need for much in the way of candy!! I do know I have a friend who is dropping Easter baskets by for us TODAY!!! But she also knows I am following WW and what are low points and on my OK list and what is not!!!

I know all the lowest point candy and goodies and if DH decides to do something it is usually something off the list and a movie so that is great. I figure if I keep up with my excercise and stay on points we have nothing to worry about.

Have a great Easter everyone!!!

Take a few minutes to just spend time with those you love next week. If you do that your mind will not be on the goodies that are floating around!!!!

You have a great Easter also Holly! :)

Once again, the family will be at my house on Easter. This year, instead of the usually dinner, we are having a Brunch. I thought eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. would be easier to handle. :)

Easter is my DD's favorite holiday (yes, even over Christmas) so it's always a fun day! It will be very difficult for me since candy is my weakness. But I WILL make it through.

The good news is after Easter, the next "candy" holiday isn't until October! :teeth:

I shouldn't have a problem here, as this weekend, Andrew and I have been making up little treat bags for his class and it all those skittles, starburst and Hershey Kisses weren't enough to tempt me then I don't know what is! :p I got through those without even wanting to have one!! I am doing better then I thought I would, which makes me happy because I have never stayed on a diet long before! LOL

Monday will be the real test though, I have to make Bunny Sugar Cookies and Brownies for Andrew's class bake sale! I just know I am going to catch myself licking my finger! Temptation at its worst! :p:p We shall see!

Good Luck everyone! You can do it!! :)

Bring it ON!!!!! Yesterday I was at my sister's house while she had 20 kids (inside because it was raining) hunting for plastic Easter Eggs she filled chock full of candies!!!! Then the only refreshment she served was Cake and Hawaiin Punch! Luckily I knew all of this beforehand, so I ate a tuna salad sandwich (5ww points) at home right before I left and just drank water throughout the party. I'm happy to say not one piece of candy, cake or smidgen of frosting touched my lips!

I'm feeling empowered, so BRING IT ON!!!!!

you guys are AWESOME!

i just ate three peanut butter treasures! ouch!

but, i'll now think of you and stay focused!!!

I know we'll have one dinner out and two family dinners Easter weekend! The temptations will be there for sure, but I WILL make wiser choices! and eat smaller portions!

I'm making desserts and am bring a very good sugar-free lemonade pie and making for the first time the WW recipe of choc. cheesecake (Becka posted on WW recipe thread)

I'll try to remember the meaning of Easter and the sacrifice made for us all. Then my passing on candy won't seem such a big sacrifice after all.

I am a little worried about Easter, but I now have a PLAN! :)
We are going out to Easter Brunch (buffet) with my parents....so I plan to save up some points from Saturday.
Then at the brunch, I plan to start off with a big plate of fruit and veggies and some water. Then move on to the other dishes. That way I am almost full before I even start there. Then I will limit my portions. Should work out.....we will see!!!
But I will need to have a Reese's Peanut Butter Egg or two....just cause they are my favorite....but at 2pts each, I can't have too many!!! :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful time with their families and friends!!! :)

Kamy

The candy is NO problem for me!!! :) I used to be a jelly bean addict (several years ago, especially the Jelly Belly ones) but now they don't even phase me! Phew! :)

Easter is my scheduled "cheat meal" but I am sure I will really not go overboard. I don't seem to be able to put away the food like I used to! ha ha! Ross and I have a date scheduled for Friday and that will be the tricky part of my week. We are supposed to go to Typhoon Lagoon for the day and I know there is nothing but junk food there! UGH!

Good luck to everyone who is fighting off peeps and chocolate bunnies and cream filled eggs this week! :)

Beanie - good luck! You can make those cookies without licking your fingers or the spoon, I know it! :)

GOOD FOR YOU Annie!!!! The force was with you! ;)

ohMom - my mouth watered when I read sugar free lemonade pie. D'oh! Now that sounds GREAT!

Kamy, your plan sounds like a winner! We went to a brunch a few weeks ago and I filled up on fruits first too! :) And had really teeny portions of other stuff, and it worked out good! :)

Everyone have a great Easter! Holly, thanks for starting this thread. It's interesting to read how everyone is planning to enjoy this holiday! :) GREAT to plan so far in advance, guys!!!

We do easter baskets that we homemake and shrink wrap up. For my husband BRAG WARNING: who has lost 47lbs with me! I'm giving a gift cift. for haircut and color, cd cift and ******* the movie in his basket and proabley will buy him a new outfit. So for the kids there getting toys and bunnies in there basket and i have some trinket candys to spread in the bottom of the basket but not going crazy this year with candy. Which i could care less about except for m and m's i have been craving them.LOL For lunch were staying home so i'm in control of lunch. Proabley get a nice ham and some bb and stew some cabbage or something lf for veggies no bread. For supper my dad will have that under control so i'll have to watch myself there he'll have all kind of great goodies and many cakes and muffins to choose from hopefully he'll make an angel food cake with strawberry topping maybe i should requst that besides his angel food with lemon curd filling covered and baked with mergein on all over that's my absoulte favor! Oh i wish this though had not crossed my mind.LOL I wonder how bad a small piece oh never mind if he made it the lemon he'd send it home with me and i don't need that. Maybe he'll make apple pie, or something i hate.LOL Raisin cookies instead of chocolate pecan.LOL Happy Easter everyone we can make!

I am glad to see this thread! I have been thinking about Easter too, and how to handle it. I think I can stay away from my DS's Easter basket without a problem, but it's the thought of the family dinner that's been making me hyperventilate a bit. So, I decided that I will have the family dinner this year. If I do the cooking I can control what is served, and I will be so busy catering to everyone else that I think I can stay away from the food easier. Besides, I will burn up calories cleaning my house in advance of the dinner! So, that's my plan. I think it's good that we WISHer's are thinking ahead and getting into the right mindset before the holiday hits. Good luck to everyone...we CAN DO IT!!!

OK- I was good until I read the angel food cake thing with the strawberries! Then, I just about lost it!
Beanie- put rubber gloves on when you make those cookies- it'll feel funny to you and you'll be more aware of your fingers!! :)
Also- for anyone remotely interested...... I found carb free jelly bellys! YES!! REAL JELLY BELLY"S They were in the bulk, sugar free, section at our grocery store! YUMMY! But- I didn't buy any. NO- I bought the carb free chocolate candy they had instead!!! But, I don't each too much- not at all. It kind does a job on my stomach! Guess that diet is working after all! GOOD LUCK this weekend everyone- and Happy Easter.

Well thankfully DS is not quite one yet so there will be no chocolate or candy in his Easter basket this year (now next year might be a problem) and DH only likes Peeps which I can't stand so I think I will be able to make it an entire Easter without any candy.

We are not going anywhere for Easter dinner so I can control what we make but I have not decided what to make yet. I would like to make a dessert with dinner and I thought about trying that WW cheesecake recipe but I think it makes 16 servings. DH probably will turn up his nose at it and DS can't have it so I don't think it is smart to make it so I can have one slice and then have it sitting around. I had better save it for an occassion when I need to bring something in a group setting. (Maybe I will just have to come visit ohMom so I can have a slice ;) ).

My biggest problem that is coming up will be my DS's birthday (one month from today). I am making two Mickey Mouse cakes and lots of goodies for the party. After the party we are planning on a big spaghetti dinner because that is one of DS's very favorite meals. :earseek:

ohMom, I would love to have the recipe for your sugar free lemonade pie if you feel like sharing!!

I'm having my family over for Easter, as usual, and you know what? I think it will be OK. I've had a jar full of chocolate candy sitting on one of my end tables for months and it hasn't tempted me in the least. I even baked peanut butter kiss cookies this weekend without sampling even one bite. I will bake one of Beachgirl's sugar free cheesecakes, though, with strawberries on the side. (We love those things at our house, and they're legal!!) Other than that, I plan to bake and cook my usual assortment. I'll just pick and choose those things I can eat.

For some reason, I just haven't been craving sweets since I've been eating low carb -- something I woudn't have dreamt I'd be saying this past Christmas.

Pat

236 days and counting . . . again

I have two Easters to worry about...regular Easter this weekend...which I'm hosting so I can control the meal, and Orthodox Easter the following weekend. The candy isn't too bad of a threat, I did find sugar free chocolate bunnies from Russel Stover's at Wal-MArt and Wal-greens has carbolite sugar-free jelly beans advertised this week. My big problem is Greek Easter. My MIL makes these awesome roasted potatoes with the lamb that I would kill for and then of course there are all the Greek pastries. I may not survive that particular holiday :( .

My very favorite Easter treat is chocolate covered marshmallow bunnies. Won't be indulging in those on Atkins, though.

It's easy for me to be good at Easter. My son is all grown up and moved away (and follows Atkins--no candy for him). My mother and brother will both be with us to celebrate Easter but my brother also follows Atkins and my mother has no stomach so not a lot of food for her, and what little she can eat must be low fat, low carb and sugar free or she gets dumping syndrome :(

Bless her heart, she is down to 110 pounds and not because she has tried to do it either. She is just very ill.

I think I am safe for over indulging on this holiday. Good luck to all, watch out for that Easter candy.

This year the girls Easter Baskets will have minimal candy in them. Not even Peeks (my biggest downfall!!). Believe it or not, but we still have candy left over from Valentines Day!!!

This year, I will wrap up some Carbolite Bars for myself from the Easter Bunny but will only indulge in one per day!!LOL!! The girls will get small toys, Disney dollars for our summer trip, makeup (kiddie kind) and fun little stuff and minimal candy!!

We will be joined by my family for a total of 18 of us for Brunch this year. I hope to eat eggs, meat etc. and stay clear of the desserts (my carbolite carmel bar will be in my pocketbook for this!). It will surely be a test but I hope to be busy watching my DD's all dressed in their Easter outfits and my nieces and nephews too!!

Good luck to you, all my friends here on the DIS WISH.......we can do it................Have a wonderful day with family and friends......
