Trip explained in previous post....not exactly a vacation. Chaperoning high schoolers including walking the halls for 2 hrs each night, keeping them all together when they all want to go in different directions, etc.
I did indeed need to learn home to use my papal Visa/Debit card so that I could have funs transferred on payday. That turned out easy and a great thing to know in the future.
Yes, all 3 of my boys are in Band....concert band at school. That includes my oldest who is also in Jazz Band, the Drum Major of Marching Band and in a local band that plays at various places around the Triad. Actually the Band Director was promoted to Asst Principal so I was the substitued Band teacher for a month, until they were able to fill the position. My freshman plays bari sax in concert band and bass drum for Drum Line in Marching Band. My sophmore plays alto sax but has played percussion since 5th grade.
So, last marching season 2 were in Marching Band/
Sophmore played JV and Varsity football....now as a rising Junior he will be playing only Varsity come the fall. My freshman has been asked to go out for the JV football team, due to his size. Not sure he has the discipline required to play football. He may stick with Drum Line, we'll see.
The point being that my big boys are repectfully:
age 17....oldest: 6'1" 185lbs
age 16....next: 6'2" 245lbs
age 14....youngest boy: 6' 2 1/2" close to 253"lbs
girls:
age 12.....5' even (closing in on me as I am 5'2 1/2") around 65lbs
age 9.....shorty, not sure probably 4'8" around 50lbs
The Junior and Freshman went on NYC trip, and I as chaparone. Total cost for 3 of us was just under $97!!!
Blessing: a fellow band parent called about an hour ago. They are redoing their kitchen, waiting for new appliances to come in this week. They have a 3yr old Maytag stove/oven in their garage that they will "lend us" until we decide if we are going to try to fix the control panel, replacement which is $200+ parts only or if we end up liking it we could buy it from them for around that price....working something out.
As for DRYER: my BFF, who owns appliance store in FL will look up part numbers on Monday (she is away camping right now....although trying to help via text) for dryer. We have deduced that it is the heating element. It is a fairly easy fix so DH can do it, just a matter of getting the parts. With her help, knock on wood, we have been able to fix quite a few things (washers, ice maker, etc) for the cost of parts only.
I only referred to Honey Baked Ham because that is brand that I know requires no oven. I was simply asking for other types. Thank you for the tip about Harris Teeter. I don't usually shop there because it is the farthest away from my home and one of the more expensive grocery stores, but that ham sounds like a deal. Lowes Groceries also has a spiral ham on sale. That will be part of my mission tomorrow.
LOL....I knew that scalped didn't seem right.....its scalloped potatoes. I don't make them oftem because they are not the most healthiest choice but from scratch is much better choice than from a box....So I will try.
Okay, am I going crazy or did we have this same Ham discussion on or during the last few holidays. I really am not trying to sound rude, but jeepers the majority of people can't afford them, but you always talk about getting them for holidays. There really are much less expensive meals for the holiday's that are just as good and don't require ovens. Really this thread had me feeling deja vu! Maybe it was Christmas.
You already paid your BFF for the part before, or was that just BS? Amazing how you happen to have these emergencies right around major holidays! How did the AG dolls work out for you? Somehow, the prior posts always add up to someone trying to work the system! How was the "food only" trip to New York City?
I thought she was on vacation and needed her paypal card loaded immediately.... someone really has an imagination (translation: personality disorder)....
I must have missed something because I am not sure why the OP is getting such snarky replies when she simply asked about a ham equivalent to honey baked hams??
Maggie
Not sure what AG dolls you are speaking of.
This is our first year without an American Girl....anything
How popluar is AG Kit?
I, by way of friend, have a brand new in box Kit doll. DD12 already has Kit.
She loves her Kit!!!
On idea is to give to DD8 for her Feb birthday but I was thinking it would be nice to have a different doll.
I was thinking of looking for a site to "trade" Kit for another doll....perhaps Julie or Lanie.
Any ideas of trading sites?
Thanks in advance.

I guess its all a matter of taste.....pun intended.
Honey Baked Hams are awesome. We had them in past years and always been consist, great taste, good size, excellent sprial cuts, plenty of leftovers.
More recently we have recieved them as gifts....shipped to us. Again, always perfect, great consistancy, etc.
One point made it to never, ever heat the Honey Baked Ham. It is precooked and meant to be served at room temp. Simply pull slices off bone and plate, it will get to room temp in not time and ready to serve.
While it is no where in our budget this year, its good to remember all the great hams we've had.

I know that a Honey Baked Ham is a precooked ham that is to be served at room temp....thus no cooking.
Is there any other type of Ham that requires no cooking.
Our oven is broken and HBaked Ham is simply out of our budget.

No, I did not have to pay BFF for part.....she pulled it from scrap, the exact model we have. They have a contract with condos and do all their applicances....so some applicance were being taken out for upgrade and lucky for us it was a match.
The part arrived yesterday, DH easily installed it but them other problems arosed indicating that it was the control panel, or as she calls it the "clock".
Thankfully we'll have use of an oven for the holidays.

I was still with you until about an hour after THAT you say that your DH already fixed the oven with the part sent to you from your friend.
So ... now I am officially confused. Why ask about hams that don't need to be cooked in an oven on Friday when the oven was at least partially fixed on Thursday?
I thought your sons were in the band (wasn't that why you were going to NYC, recently?).
In the spirit of smart spending, I think you need to worry about some of your most basic stuff, first -- you know, stuff like getting the oven and dryer fixed...
