I make desserts twice a year, Christmas and Easter. On Christmas its punkin, and apple pie and I buy Costco's frozen tiramisu (its restaurant quality). On Easter it is banana and chocolate cream pie. Any ideas for something different? I was thinking of doing the angel cake with pineapple, whipped cream or cool whip with strawberries. Does anyone know that recipe? I am seriously dessert challenged.

Also what is the thing with pistachio pudding, cool whip and graham cracker crumbs and cream cheese. Does anyone remember that?

I'm making an easy cheesecake with fresh strawberries. It's not done in a springform pan but in a rectangular casserole dish. It isn't as difficult to make as a traditional cheesecake.

Our familiy's Easter desserts, are Jello Cake--the one where you poke the holes in the cake, and drizzle the jello in the holes(yellow cake, w/ lime jello). The icing is made w/ cool whip, and lemon pudding. Very light, and good.

Our other one, is a white chocolate cake made from scratch. My great-great grandmothers recipe. It is to die for, but my mom will not share the recipe w/ anyone. she says she will when she is too old to make it anymore.

I need ideas too. I have never made an Easter dinner for guests before and I choose this year at 38 weeks pregnant to do it!! :confused3 I am in for it!!

I will probably end up with a pie or something from the store. Maybe throw together something easy!!

PUNCH BOWL CAKE

1 lg. pkg. strawberry Jello
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. sugar
1 lg. can crushed pineapple
2 lg. bowls Cool Whip
2 pkgs. frozen strawberries
1 can coconut
2 angle food cakes

Mix Jello as usual and put in refrigerator. Mix nuts, pineapple, sugar and strawberries together. Put in refrigerator. When Jello has began to set, add nuts, pineapple, sugar and strawberries. Mix well, slowly stir in one large Cool Whip.
Tear angel food cake into small pieces. Put layer of cake in punch bowl (or any large bowl) then a layer of Jello mixture. Continue with layers until top is mixture. Cover this with layers until top is mixture. Cover this with the other Cool Whip and sprinkle on coconut. Put in refrigerator and let stand overnight.

Is that it!

Or someone posted on last year that I am making this year. Its just an angle food cake with frozen strawberries, dry strawberry jello cool whip all mixed together. Its quick and easy and everyone liked it.

The pistachio pudding one sounds like watergate salad with in a graham cracker crust. Just take a large pistachio pudding and mix the dry pudding with a can of crushed pineapple, a tub of coolwhip and a bag of mini marshmallows. Mix it and let in set.

People love this one, we call it Death by Chocolate or Chocolate Trifle. It's very easy.

Use a trifle bowl (you could probably use another type of bowl but it shows off all the layers if you use a trifle bowl)

1 box brownie mix
1 large box Jello chocolate pudding
1 large tub cool whip, thawed (or a pint - maybe less - of sweetened whipped cream if you prefer)
10 Heath or Skor (toffee and chocolate) candy bars, broken into bits (whack the bars with a rolling pin before removing them from the package).

1) Bake a batch of brownies from a mix (or buy brownies at the store) and break/chop them up into little bits.

2) Make the chocolate pudding according to the package directions.

3) Then layer: Brownie bits (at this point - optional but good - you can sprinkle a bit of Kaluhua on the brownies)

4) Spread a layer of pudding over the brownies

5) Spread a layer of cool whip over the pudding

6) Sprinkle chopped Heath bars over the cool whip

7) Layer everything again. You should end with cool whip (the cool whip should be on top) topped with the Heath bars.

I'm making something that I think is called Chocolate Eclair Dessert.

1 lrg container Cool Whip
1 lrg box of vanilla pudding
1 sm box of vanilla pudding
graham crackers
1 container of ready made chocolate frosting

Make the pudding according to the directions on the boxes. Add the cool whip. Layer a large rectangular pan with graham crackers. Layer cool whip mixture, then another layer of graham crackers, then cool whip then end with a final layer of graham crackers. Melt the chocolate frosting in the microwave JUST enough to pour (don't melt too much). Spread it over the top and refrigerate overnight.

This is one of the best desserts our family has ever had.

This is one of my family's favorites, too and it is so easy!

I am making a Cream Puff cake. Also cheating and going out to buy an angel food cake I saw with tons of fruit on it at Dominicks.

I used to make a "Bunny Cake" when DS was little.

Make the cake like you normally would in two round 8" pans. Then cut one of them into three pieces--the two end pieces are "eye" shaped and the center is hourglass shaped. "Does that make sense? The ears are the eye shaped pieces, the hourglass shaped piece becomes the tie. The intact round piece is the head. Assemble them on a foil covered sheet and decorate with frosting. Use jeelybeans for the eyes and nose, and make icing whiskers and mouth. Use pink frosting to shape the ears. Jellybeans on the tie.

We make that bunny every year! Its very easy and he comes out adorable. The only thing different I do it only add coconut to the ears and make the ears inside pink tinted. I leave his face just vanilla frosted for all the coconut haters! Cute cake! :thumbsup2
