When do you guys start putting together easter baskets?
What do you put into them?

This year, I'm doing a beach "theme".

I got sand pails instead of baskets, plus lots of beach toys, sunglasses, etc. I'll add a chocolate bunny too.

We didn't do one for DS3's first two Easters

Last year was his first basket and in it, I put Thomas trains, a chocolate bunny and maybe a few cars (can't remember)

This year, I bought some cool baskets at Target - they're not wicker, more like a Longaberger style w/ a fabric liner.

For DS3, I got a bubble gun, Peeps (his first ones ever - should be interesting to see what he thinks of them), chocolate bunnies, Silly Putty and some other stuff I can't remember.

DS1 is getting a stuffed bunny, some poseable plastic bunnies and a few other small toys

DD8 - bubble set, peeps, silly putty, sidewalk chalk, butterfly net, Nemo jumprope, jax, candy, stickers, Incredibles movie.

DD11- bubbles, mechanic pencils, post it notes, teen magazines, nail polish, nail polish remover, sunglasses, candy, sandles, CD's, DVD's.

I will be putting my kids Easter baskets together this week and hiding them. We are leaving for Disney in 8 days, and flying home Easter morning. I want to be able to hide the baskets (Easter Bunny hides the baskets at my house) right before we leave so that it will look like he visited while we were gone. (DD~14 knows, it will probably be the last year for DD~8 not knowing, and DS~9 months doesn't understand it yet). I will put a CD and Wendy's gift certificates in each of the girls baskets, with some candy, and for DS, some sort of new toy, small stuffed animal, some cheerios and Veggie Puffs.

For my daughter this year I got the little bunny basket at Hallmark (cause I was buying cards there anyway, so it was $6). It's small so i don't have to stuff it wtih much, which is a plus for me! We got her little plastic and stuffed Easter items, like bunnies, ducks, an egg that spins and opens if you push a button, lambs, etc. She loves tiny things to carry around so I figured this was the way to go. She's too little for candy so I don't have to worry about any of that yet. We also have some stuff leftover from her birthday (2/26) that I didn't give to her so she'll be getting that too. I planned to give it to her for her birthday, but she got so many other toys from family and friends so I figured I'd save them for Easter.

I am really behind this year. I have a few hotwheels put aside. I still need to get the basket itself and a chocolate bunny. I am putting a leappad book in it for him this year. Past years he got a wagon, a really big play ball, stuffed animals and the like.

I try not to put too much candy in them - but this year I'm ordering some lollipops from New York Chocolate - CInderella's coach, princesses and minnie and mickeys! I also put in Disney dollars, bubbles, glowinthe dark necklaces, buckets and shovels, small toys, books, crayons or markers, coloring books, videos or DVDs etc. The older kids just get money (which is what they really want anyway!)

cd's , movies, video games, and I hope to get the PSP that is going to be out on the 24 so if we can get one it will be in DD's basket, Sport related stuff, she has more of a Christmas than Easter.. :flower:

My dh loves candy, he's worse than any kid. So when Ashli turned 18 and I decided she was too old to mess with an easter basket anymore (because she didn't eat the candy, it would be months old and I'd pitch it) he took over because he couldn't stand the idea of not buying her tons of candy, lol. But it turns out that his tastes are far superior to mine and Ashli loves it! She told me the other day "I never considered myself a chocolate person until daddy started filling my easter basket, wow, that stuff is great!"

I bought DS a basket from Pottery Barn Kids last year for his first easter so he'll be using that forever hopefully. :) He's getting a few small milky way bunnies, bubbles, a couple of board books, a velcro ball/glove set, and elmo bubble bath. He's also getting a potty, but that doesn't fit in the basket. I thought about making the potty the basket..but that's kinda gross. ;)

Our nephews (ages 4-9) are all getting new swimsuits and water balloons. Our goddaugther (1) is getting a new swimsuit, sunglasses, sunhat and bubbles.

he-he - count the plastic eggs before you hide them!!

We have an Easter egg hunt in our backyard for my niece and nephews (7 year-old triplets and 13 year old nephew) We fill plastic eggs with candy or stickers. Since several of us fix up the eggs, we always forget to count them first. Most years - oh, in about October or November, we find at least one plastic egg that the kids didn't find!

Little bit of candy
The Incredibles (E)
Bambi (Mo)
Bunnies for each

That's all folks. ;)

I bought that bunny too (I'm a Hallmark addict!) and I love how its tail moves back and forth. So cute!

I haven't even considered what to put in it yet though.

One tradition that my DH and I started for Alyssa is buying a card for every holiday. Both of us sign it, and then I seal it and put it in the cedar chest for her to read when she gets older.

Amy :)

For DS (4) Disney Dollars for our upcoming trip, a Thomas train piece, Incredibles, swim trunks, Peeps and a Chocolate Bunny.

One year I used a plastic wheelbarrow for DS. They are really cheap. I filled it with a bit of candy and a couple plastic dinosaurs, and DS had a blast all summer.

Well, I had thought we'd be in the midst of moving that weekend, but it's been moved up to next weekend, so I have to change gears! I have always done my own baskets (never bought pre-packaged), but was going to get packaged ones this year since, like I said, I thought we'd still be moving.

I did buy two dvds.........have you seen the ones at Target that are all about one Disney character? They have cartoon specifically for the classic characters.................they had Donald Duck, and I don't know who else, but my older ds's fave is Goofy, so I got him that and the younger likes Chip and Dale, so I got him that. We can't really wait for Bambi and The Incredibles..............we need to see them right now!

Other than that, I'm not sure yet what I'm getting. They do always get a stuffed bunny and hot wheels in eggs. I thought about getting some of those dragon eggs they have...............what are those toys called..........Imaginext? Anyway, they have Fire and Ice dragons in eggs. I think older ds would really like that. Younger ds would probably like a little wagon.........I may do that...........he has one of those great big Step 2 wagons, but he can't have it at the apartment................

Very little candy - especially with the $200 dental bill for DS9 - no floride in the well water
Books, small toys, compass/flashlight combo, DS11 has been begging for pickup sticks - I'll have to get some. Orioles Dugout Club memberships - maybe some more small camping gadgets -for our Yellowstone/Out West trip this summer.

Last year she got a playstation2 unit in her basket....so this year I will put in some candy, some sand toys , a playstation2 game or two, some lottery tickets (she loves scrathing them off) and Disney Dollars if I can find any!

I'm going to make up a small Easter basket for our new GS this year. I want to get that bunny basket at Hallmark this week, it looks so cute. And I'll fill it with baby stuff like a Diaper Genie refill, lotion, balmex, baby wipes, etc. plus a couple of Cadbury eggs for Mommy and Daddy!! ;)
