My parents give tons of candy, so we rarely do candy in our Easter baskets at home. What do the rest of you do?

Stupid question: adults or kids?

Theme a basket with their favorite Disney or cartoon character. DVD, coloring books, crayons, socks, pj's. Something else we have done in the past in plant packets of seeds.......fun for the idea of Spring and great for a kids activity.

For little kids I would include small toys, matchbox cars, coloring books, maybe a dvd.

I just mailed off a basket to my 22 year old daughter. I have made her a basket every year of her life and even though I am not getting to see her Sunday on Easter I wanted her to have the basket. I put in candy, lots of chocolate covered marshmallow eggs which she and I both love, peeps, etc. I also put in the Peter Pan dvd, a cute pair of Easter socks, some hair ties, a magnetic grocery list pad with Peter Rabbit on it, and of course a bunny. Igot her a cheerleading bunny to remind her of all the days she spent in H.S working on those routines.

I also made a little basket for her boyfriend who is in law school. In his I included lots of candy, plastic eggs shaped like soccer balls (soccer is his sport) and a Matchbox car -- a Ferarri -- maybe he'll have a real one when he graduates.

I love making up the baskets and no matter how old she gets she will get one.

It depends on the mood of the Bunny that year. :teeth:

my kids baskets have had everything from fruit(fresh, canned and in the form of fruit snacks) to video games, movies, clothes, sesame place season passes, and very rarely candy. this year I think he's been browsing Ipods. but you never know.

We used to throw in a video with the candy. As Ds has gotten older we've moved away from that.
This year, I'm throwing in some itunes gift cards. Best Buy has Buy 3 $15 cards, get one free. A new pair of swim goggles, frisbee, stuff we use in the warmer weather.

Disney dollars, small bag of favorite chips/pretzels, DVDs, video game.... small things.

hey, thanks for the info! I can use some Itunes gift cards.;)

This year mine are getting each a pair of summer pjs, a classic Disney movie each (DS Davy Crockett, DD Parent Trap (original), a book, DS a model car, DD a baby doll, bubbles, silly putty, and some other little stuff.

Besides candy, mine are each getting a new Webkinz; I also picked up some things at the dollar store - necklaces for the girls, some rubbery snakes and frogs for DS. Last year I put in some bath stuff, sunglasses and hats.

We always go to WDW a few weeks after Easter, so I do Disney-themed baskets:

Disney Dollars
Disney plush
Disney pins
disposable cameras (regular & waterproof ones)
Disney pens
Nintendo DS games (so they have new ones for our 14 hour drive)
new DVDs (to watch in the car on the trip down)
Birnbaum's WDW Guide for Kids (DD gets the new edition every year)

That's all I can think of right now.

Great thread. I always try to put in outside activities for my DS...I guess I should start getting stuff for this year! Kites, sidewalk chalk, fishing pole, pool stuff, etc. Usually a trip to Walmart does the trick.

Webkinz are great! He just got his first one and is already asking for another.

When me and my brother were little, my parents would always do tons of candy and some little toys (a coloring book or matchbox car or whatever). As I got older, there was less candy and more "nice stuff". Last year if I remember correctly, I got a CD and a nail gift certificate (I have tips on my nails, so it was really nice to not have to pay to get them filled once) and my brother got a book and some candy. I always get Peeps and Cadbury Creme Eggs, though (my favorites!). This year, I have no idea what I'm going to get, but I'm sure there will be no candy other than the Peeps and the Creme Eggs and probably a book or something. Hopefully a nail gift certificate, too.
