We are trying to resolve the Easter basket dilemma. Options are to mail our stuff beforehand; get one on-site; go to a store off-site to get supplies. Does anyone know if there's a Walmart, or something similar, nearby? I am thinking the best thing might be to mail candy/bunnies, etc. ahead, and pick up the actual basket at a store somewhere near WDW. I know we can probably get one at a resort, but I imagine it would be really expensive (and we like to construct our own). Any advice?

There's a Walgreen's close by, and while they won't have the selection that Walmart would, I'm gonna bet that they would at least carry baskets (that's where we got our fake tree on our trip during Christmas). Drive as if you were going to Gooding's, but instead of going across 535 (or whatever it is) into the Crossroads mall area, take a left. The Walgreens is just down the street on the left (maybe one or 2 lights down).

Also just a little further down on the right is a new Winn-Dixie, and they had a bunch of seasonal stuff, so would probably be a good place for candy.

There's also a super Target on Orange Blossum Trail, but it's harder (and further) to get too.

I have a granddaughter in Naples fl, and I am always sending candy etc. down to her. You have to watch sending chocolate since most mail- shipping trucks are not refrigerated and it gets quite hot. Somtimes, I add a frozen cooler pack to the package, since it's enclosed it helps keep the chocolate from melting.. I have also had trouble sending crayons,,they have melted too!Hoping you can learn from my experience!

You could ask the easter bunny to leave the basket at home and just drop off a quick card on easter explaining the "situation". saying that he noticied that they wern't in their beds when he was at their house..and found them on vacation.

We do this every Easter. We bring down some items For the Easter Basket and buy the basket at the general store and the CM would Wrap it for us. I would pick them up the night before. We did this at OKW and BW Cost was about $ 7.00 a basket.

As an alternative to the basket, there are Easter gift bags. I plan on picking them up at our local stationary and hiding them in the suitcase. Baskets take up too much space to lug down or bring home. I'm bringing some trinkets and buying the candy down there. The chocolate always turns a little white when going by air.

Jane Cartelli from Gifts of a Lifetime has Easter baskets that she will deliver to your hotel. Check out her website. www.GiftsofaLifetime.com Not cheap, but should be fun. I just ordered one for our son.

You aren't kidding about it being expensive! I think the ones Disney sold in their hotel giftshops were more reasonable.
