I am currently trying to plan a vacation to SSR for Easter 2006. Has anyone ever gone during easter week. I am worried about the crowds. Any thoughts? :wave2:

We will be at ssr for Easter week. It is crowded then, but the parks open til late and you have to play the game--- get there early, take a break at the pool and then go back late in the evening. Then it isn't too bad. The weather is great then. Nancy

We'll be at VWL and BWV for 9 nights during Easter vacation. I'm expecting crowds to be higher than your average summer crowd, but slightly smaller than Christmas week (I can hope right). It will be crowded and expect there to be ton of people!! I really don't mind, and will "play the game". We'll hit the parks early, retreat for pool and nap, and then hit the parks around dinner. That has been always been our plan in the summer, and we'll do it again.

A veteran of exactly one "Easter" week at Disney here.....

First....I think you have to define Easter week.....the week before (Holy Week) or the week after (the week containing "Easter Monday"). I think it makes a difference....and from reading prior posts, I believe the week after Easter is considerably more crowded.

My experience is from the week before Easter. We found it to be our most crowded visit to Disney....but our prior trips had been exclusively in February and March (non-Easter). Personally, I thought it was only marginally more crowded than President's Day week. I think if you use morning EMH (evening EMH doesn't work well for us, too crowded and we prefer to not be out so late with the kids), arrive at park opening at non-morning EMH parks, and FastPass you will have a great trip. Although I would much prefer February, we will never be afraid of this week again.

One anecdote that you might find illustrative........midweek of our stay, we arrived at MK at the stated park opening time (not a morning EMH day). I don't know precisely what time we arrived at Buzz Lightyear, but we first had to clear the bag check, turnstiles, retreive our wheelchair, and make our way over to Tomorrowland. We were able to ride Buzz 4 consecutive times with virtuallly no wait. We stopped only because the kids wanted to do something else...and the wait time was increasing to about 10 min. Had similar experiences at MGM, but found that TT and RNR tended to back up more quickly.

Best of luck. Remember.....there is no bad time to be at Disney.

We were at VWL the week before Easter this past March, and the parks were very crowded! :rotfl: We had a good time though and may go back this year! :Pinkbounc

The only reason I am trying to go Easter week is because my daughter is off from school. I took her out of school this May and the makeup work was unbelievable. I always go in May so I am a little nervous about trying a different month. The only other option is the second week in June. I am not sure if it will be too hot by then. What do you suggest? :flower:

The beginning of the week before Easter is less crowded. It gets progressively more crowded as you get closer to Easter. We hit the rope drop at MK and were able to ride Splash Mt 3 times before a line of consequence developed. We have been there both before and after Easter and it seemed about the same. Nancy

Hi....we were at SSR over Easter this year and had such a good time, that we're going again next year and staying at BWV. It's definitely crowded, but just knowing that the crowds would be heavy we adjusted our plans and typically went to the parks in the evenings or early morning. It was fun, you'll have a great time!! :sunny:

We always go at Spring break, which is a fixed week for us, the very last week of March thru about April 2. It's always reasonably crowded, but nothing like Christmas--until this year. EVERYONE had the same break, and it seemed like there were a million people all trying to get the same airfare! Maybe it's me, but I thought $800 per person was over-priced. June, on the other hand, offered airfare for $200 , which is more reasonable. Are you planning to fly? If so, see if you are near a major airport, which has cheaper airfare. All our airports in Michigan are regional, which means they are smaller and the tickets cost more. We do get our luggage fast, though

We'll be at SSR with our son and three of his friends for Spring break which in our school district is the week before Easter every year. But talking to family in NJ whose break is usually after Easter they're coinciding this year. along with the other North last school districts - we're expecting it to be more crowded then usual- as we go almost every Spring Break Since our Son hit middle School..
