I know I should know this (!) but when can I start booking flights for Easter 2004. I want to fly out on 3 April 2004 and back on 17 April 2004 and I can never remember when scheduled operators open bookings. I have tried Bon Voyage but they are offering a very limited range of carriers as yet. Ta!!

For scheduled flights, it is 11 months before the date of the flight. For charters, packages and fly-drives (which may use scheduled flights) it can be much earlier than that.

Virgin Holidays already have their package holidays and fly-drives for April 2004 on sale. Plenty of availability at present.

As that is Easter weekend, I am not too surprised that it has sold out already.

Hi Fiona

Those are exactly the same dates we're going next year! I booked up a few weeks ago with Travel City Direct as a result of all the positive comments I read on this website.

Try them - hope you get lucky - and they are cheaper than Virgin!

We wanted to fly out on 2/4/04, but the nice man at the end of the phone at Virgin told me that I could save lots of money (about £400 per adult!!) if we were able to move our outward flight a few days earlier.

We're now going on 31/3/04 - but we had to go via Miami as all the economy seats to Orlando had already sold out on that date! (I booked this about a month/six weeks ago).
Mind you, as we'll be going to the Keys as well as Orlando, this was just as convenient and cost about half of the original quote from Virgin.

I'm hoping the outward date is the weekend before Easter or I've got my dates in a bad muddle! Unfortunately I never expected it to be easy! I have no flexibility as I teach and am stuck with the school holidays, I don't suppose the parents would be too keen on me swanning off on the last day of term! I think I'll just have to try the usual suspects (Travel City, Travel Bag, Airline Network etc) when the magic date of 3 May comes around! I prefer scheduled to charter (better baggage allowance for all that shopping) and as we have a friend in Kissimmee who does our car hire for us at a 30% discount I think a flydrive deal might be wasted. Just need to keep my eye on that calendar!:p

PS Sandie, Travel City website won't let me select 2004? Probably better ringing?

Yes, I rang up on the off-chance and grabbed what was available. I have to take school hols too! When I rang they had only released the dates three weeks beforehand but it was filling up fast.
