Both Gloria Gaynor and The SOS Band are on when we are visiting WDW, and I'm just wondering how busy it gets for seats to the concerts? Also, do we need to get a ticket or do we just turn up?

Thanks :thumbsup2

We'd like to know, too! We'll be there to see Loverboy! :cheer2: Also, is it so loud that my DD5 will need earplugs? We've never been-first trip!-and don't know how loud the outdoor area is.

There are several shows each afternoon and they last about 15-20 minutes. I've never had trouble getting a seat. I usually grab some dinner from my favorite Food & Wine booths and head for the theater area about 45 minutes before the show. I can monitor the area while I eat and jump in when the line starts forming. Sometimes I've been able to walk right in and sit down.

Sorry, missed some questions. No tickets required. Loudness varies from group to group, but they don't allow it to overwhelm the area. However, since little ones are sometimes alarmed by loud sounds, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the earplugs handy. We keep them around for fire works.

With the possible exception of the Beach Boys - seating for Eat to the Beat, as well as Flower Power, is absolutely never a problem.

Arrived last year for Lover Boy 10 minutes after show time, sat in about the sixth row, but could've been closer. (And didn't stay long.)

Length of show is typically 25 to 30 minutes, although on Friday night, Survivor went for 40 minutes.

Please, please don't waste a minute of your evening queuing for this. Even if the queue stretches well into Italy - it's an illusion. The people in that line won't fill a quarter of the theater.

We've been seeing every group at least once, usually more, every year for 10 years, so I do have some experience with this.

I'm wondering if Southside Johhny might be one of the exceptions as far as crowds ( ie...jam packed) as it coincides with Jersey week!

I think it really depends on the day of the week you are going as well. Last year we went on a Saturday to see the Gap Band (which was awesome) and the park was VERY crowded that day. All of the food stops had VERY long lines so we decided to get in line for the concert about an hour early. There were about 50 people in front of us in line and within 15 minutes of getting in line, the queue behind us was filled up and before entering to sit it was backed up to Italy. However, everyone did seem to fit in although is was pretty filled up and people were standing at the top. I think if you are planning on going during a weekday, you won't have any problem walking right in. We have friends that went Thursday and they said the crowds weren't bad at all. We also went on a weekend when most Florida kids didn't have school Friday or Monday so that may have contributed to the crowds as well.

There are 2 shows per night, usually at 6:00 and 8:00 and I didn't find the music to be too loud or overpowering at all.

Here's hoping it won't be too bad - But I can guarantee I'll be there. Here's also hoping Springsteen shows up for a "double bill" 5 hour show, featuring the best of SSJ and BS.
And here's hoping I hit the lottery and win $100 million :p

Thanks everyone for your great advice, it is certainly very useful! :thumbsup2

I'm sorry, I don't think those prizes are part of the YOAMD! ;)
