Ever drove from the east coast to the west coast? What major stops did you make? Did you have kids with you? Did they live to tell of it? :rotfl2: How long did it take? Where did you go? What did you do? Would you do it again?
Tell me all about it. :)

I'm interested in responses to this thread too!

I am one of the kids that lived to tell about it!

I was 15 and my brother was 12 when our parents took us on a 4-week adventure in a 28 foot motorhome to see the country. This was 27 years ago but the memories are still strong and I hope that I get the chance to do something similar with my children when they are a bit older.

We took a southern route westward throught Texas, N.M., AZ. and then up the California coast to Oregon and Washington then heading home through the northern states. We spend time at many National Landmarks and parks...even all of these years later I am sure a trip would include similar stops. I would be happy to share more details.

If you have a chance to do this go for it...the memories for your children and the education about our beautiful country will be with them the rest of their lives.

lord i feel it's a major accomplishment when we fly with the kids from the west to the east coast! i imagine if we tried it we would at least get to see the inside of every "nice clean looking" bathroom every hundred miles or so, not to mention each states "top dining spot" (aka the mickey d's drive thru), i also imagine 90% of the car's storage space would be eaten up with dvd's (so i would'nt have to listen to same ones over and over and over).

i think a cool way to do this would be by train-then at least i could snooze when the scenery gets boring (i can't sleep when dh drives-i feel like i have to keep him company). by train i could hop out at the little towns, get a rental car and explore the region for a few days then back on the train to curl up with a good book, play board games with the kids-and retire to the dining car (where my meal choices won't be determined by who is offering the best toy premium with the kid's meal :teeth: ).

if you do it "and live to tell"-please post a trip report.
