East Coast Bias?

The season pass DVC discount for Disneyland is still $20, as opposed to the $100 discount for WDW. This made sense when the DLR passes were cheap, but they have gone up $120 in 3 years!!! We also have no child prices unlike WDW. I feel like I am being cheated...

How do you think I could go about bringing this to the attention of the new management? Any suggestions?

Thanks...I would love to start a movement...

All you west coasters, I encourage you to voice your opinion!!! We can "Occupy Main Street" (just kidding).

It may have something to do with the number of members who visit DL. The West Coast isn't a target group for DVC sales as noted by the number of DVC rooms at DL and the lack of off site sales locations in California.

:earsboy: Bill

The target demographic for Disneyland Resort is Southern California...and that is it.

WDC enjoys visitors from outside the region, but if we all stopped going, they would still survive on the local economy. WDC really does not have much incentive to placate DVC members, as they have a very small footprint in the resort.

That said, it may pique their interest if enough "West coats" members (or potential members) mentioned a resort would make Aulani purchases easier, as it may provide an incentive to make a joint Hawaii/Anaheim trip more feasible. ;)

In the end, DVC members now constitute a significant portion of the resort guest population at WDW, and the resort executives understand our financial impact, especially when the economy is down. This is why we received the AP discount and the DDP option.

In summary, I don't think it will get much traction, but you can try :)

Note: I initially spelled Hawai'i, but was spell checked to Hawaii. Which is correct?

Hawaii folks are also interested in DL more than WDW. Of course we are a small market, but majority of Aulani owners that I know bought with the idea of using their points at Disney Land and Aulani. Most are not planning to travel to WDW more than a couple of times during their ownership.

Hawai'i would be the authentic way of spelling it because of the 'okina usage. But spell check uses the dictionary that does not use the traditional spellings of different languages.

There are a lot of philosophical differences between DL and WDW and this is just one.

DVC members get 10% off pretty much every restaurant at Disneyland. At WDW, the discounts are a skimpy little list.

Ticket pricing is different.

No free airport transportation at DL.

EMH is different.

Dining plans are different.

Even the ticketing systems are different.

...I am the 99(0,000) DLR AP holders..:rotfl:
yes, we get very good dining discounts..I also wish we'd get a better than $20 discount on APs..and since we are such a small percentage of the 990,000 APers, what would it hurt? Heck, they could just give us enough off so the difference between Premium and Deluxe wasn't so much and I'd probably upgrade.

So, I did send an email to member satisfaction. I have not heard back. Best case scenario would be for them to forward it to someone who will take a second look at the policy.

I encourage other DLRDVCers to do the same....them maybe we will be heard.:grouphug:

I agree. I'd like to see a better discount on the APs otherwise with the price increases I'm not sure we'll continue buying them.

I would also like to see a better discount. We are AP holders at disneyland but were AP before we became DVC members. I will also email them.

I was under the impression that ticket discounts were given by Disney Parks, not DVC. Is that not the case?

If it is true, then I assume that DL doesn't see as much return on an AP discount for members as WDW does, and that's why they don't offer a higher discount.

I agree. There is only 1 DVC resort at DL and there are only 48 rooms.

It's funny, about a week ago there was a thread complaining that DL gave DVC member better discounts than WDW (the 10% off food).

Can I ask you where you got the DVC symbol at the end of your signature? And is there a way, (other than in a paint program) to change the 1999 to 2000?

TIA!

UPDATE:

I did send an email as I stated before, and this morning the executive offices at DVC called me. They thanked me for my email and told me that this is something that Claire B is looking into. I was told that I should not expect any changes right away, but that will be negotiated with the parks. I was also told that the more people that address this issue, the more likely we will have change.

THEREFORE: if you are a west coast DVCer, and would like your perks to be comparable to WDW, PLEASE send a quick email to DVC. There is power in numbers!:grouphug:

Careful what you ask for. Comparable perks could mean the 10% accross the board DVC dining discount at DL could be taken away. WDW has very limited DVC dining perks.

It can't hurt but don't get your hopes up. This is pretty much the same response that I get every time I contact the Satisfaction Team, they are always looking into it no matter what the request is. They have been looking into doing a better job cleaning the room for at least 5 years now because I contact them every time are rooms are below standards. :goodvibes

The good news is they're looking into improving the feedback process. :earsboy:
