11th October
Woke up, had our last Holiday Inn breakfast of the trip and packed the last bits before setting off for the car hire drop-off (all of the car hire at Boston Logan is offsite), topping up the fuel on the way. We found the drop-off easily, car accepted back with no issues or extra charges (definitely saved a fair bit by not prepaying for fuel!) and the courtesy bus to the airport was very efficient. We dropped of our cases at the Delta counter and had around two hours to play with before our flight so we had some lunch at Fuddruckers ($20), bought some snacks for the flight and passed the rest of the time on the DS and iPod Touch I became somewhat addicted to Lemonade Tycoon on there! Flight boarding was on time and the plane was full to bursting (I think a few people were turned away) but was thankfully uneventful and we soon arrived at Orlando International. After baggage claim it became clear that a bunch of other flights (including at least one Virgin one) had arrived around the same time so all the car hire queues were snaking for miles Luckily for us I had done Budgets online check-in so we went straight to the parking garage and I was amazed to be offered a brand new red Mustang, erm yes please! I was well and truly blown away and felt very cool indeed whizzing down the highway to Disney in it, probably the only time in my life Id ever drive one of these so I fully intended to make the most of it.
I never thought of myself as a car person before but wow!
We arrived at Coronado Springs around 8, checked in and found our room (Ranchos somewhere) Id paid for a water view and really hoped wed get a lake view but it wasnt to be and we got one of the quiet pools instead, oh well at least were in Disney and we were going to Magic Kingdom extra magic hours that night! We got freshened up and headed to the bus stop where we luckily didnt have to wait long for a MK bus, and even more luckily the bus ride coincided with Wishes so we had a nice view of that on the way to the MK bus stop. Wed already planned that tonight would be minimal on the rides and heavy on the night photography for Steve. We rode Pirates of the Caribbean, Its a Small World and the Carousel (well, just me for that one!), ate dinner at Cosmic Rays (Caesar salad for me, veggie burger for Steve) and spent the rest of the time soaking up the night time atmosphere with lots of photo stops.
Seeing double!
Whizzy carpets!
Can you guess what this is? (answer at the very end of this post!*)
That's Mickey on the right, hard to see at this size
Supercharged Dumbo!
Can I keep em?!
The ride queues were generally medium-long but the park itself didnt feel busy at all, surprising for EMH and we ended up staying til midnight before the tiredness kicked in and it was time to return to CSR for bed.
