We will be staying at Caribbean beach for 5 days and then off to the beach. We won't need a rental until we leave Disney. What's the easiest way to get to a rental car?

What time are you planning to rent? The closest to CBR is probably the Alamo at the Dolphin but I think they close at 4:00pm. After that you could rent from the Alamo at Car Care Center, which closes later (6:00?). You can call and arrange a free shuttle pick up from CBR.

We will be leaving before 4. Thank you the linked thread was super helpful!

Or take DME back to MCO and rent there. Be sure to check out the rates renting from MCO as well as at the Dolphin/CCC (only Alamo and National at those two spots).

I like this suggestion. Do check out the CCC/Dolphin rates, but chances are renting from MCO will be less expensive, especially if you return the car there. Even though you're not going home, "find" a flight from MCO about three hours after you would like to catch the bus and put that on your DME request.

I would also price out the option of getting the vehicle when you first arrive. Depending on how many days total, occasionally the cost is cheap enough to get the rental for the entire time frame and not have to worry about getting the vehicle later in the trip.

If renting from the airport, you need to look at the total cost for the rental, not just the daily/weekly rate. There are additional facility fees charged at many airports that can increase the total cost substantially.

The upside to the airport is generally a much wide selection of vehicles, less emphasis on upselling and faster service (esp if affinity member).

That may be, but for the same time period, most of the time renting from CCC/Dolphin is more expensive. Not always, but usually...

I've had cheaper rates at MCO, and sometimes cheaper at the Dolphin. There seem to be many variables. Which is why I suggested checking both spots out. Also depends on where you're heading after.....if you're headed to Daytona, then MCO is a good bet. Ft Lauderdale, or even Tampa, closer to WDW makes more sense.
