Easiest way to get to EPCOT's World Showcase

We will be staying at the Poly during our August trip. We have 2 half days scheduled for EPCOT, one for Future World and one for World Showcase. It's going to be hot and I'm trying to plan "shortcuts" where possible to cut down on unnecessary walking.
Is it easier to get to Future World by traveling on the monorail and entering at Future World and walking back or by somehow going in through the World Showcase entrance?

From the Poly, it's definitely "easier" (more straightforward) to use the monorail.

If you REALLY want to save steps, you could take the monorail to the MK, get on a Beach Club bus, and walk to the International Gateway. That would take longer, and I'm not sure just how many steps you would save, when you consider walking from the monorail station to the Beach Club bus stop, and through the Beach Club and along the path to the IG.

Plus if you enter through world showcase and plan on seeing every country then you have to back track or walk past 2 of the countries again since you enter between France and England. ( this would be if you plan on using the monorail to get home.)So that would add some more walking.

So to save you steps you'll want to take the monorail and walk from front to back.

you also COULD take a bus from the poly to DHS then hop the boat to Epcot but it's definitely not the most time saving way to do it

Thanks, everyone. It looks like the monorail to EPCOT will be our best bet.

Rather than splitting your days Future World/World Showcase, you may find a better way to split Epcot into 2 days is Left Side/right side.

One day do the test track side then into WS via Mexico up through to America.

Then on day 2, I would do the other side of Future World into WS Via Canada through Japan

That's a great idea, thanks!

IMHO, splitting like that is a lot of extra walking. Think about it, if you walk through the Future World entrance and do all attractions on the left (TT side) and then around WS finishing at the America pavilion, how do you plan on exiting the park? If you are exiting in FW, you have to walk all the way back there. On which side? The side you already saw? Or will continue walking around WS until you get to Showcase Plaza, past the fountain and Spaceship Earth. If you split it like this, you will essentially be walking the entirety of EP on each day (unless you plan on exiting through IG, but even then, you will have to walk past countries you are either saving for the next day or past countries you've already seen)

If you want to save on walking, I would stick to your Future World, World Showcase split. If you really want to save on walking, I would use the monorail on your FW day and take a cab to Beach Club on your WS day. It will cost a little extra, but definitely will save you from walking in the heat on your WS day. Afternoons in August are HOT! On your WS day, I would cab to BC, go through IG, walk to the left, starting in the UK, and walk all the way around to France where you can stop for, arguably the BEST ice cream in WDW! Then head out IG, back to a cab at BC.

I usually take the friendship boat across the WS Lagoon from either Germany or Morroco back to FW

I was going to suggest the same thing, but we usually take the friendship boat across to either Morocco or Germany first, then make our way back to FW visiting countries along the way. Also depends what you want to do for dinner. Some of the best food is found in WS.

Yes depending on the time of day. I often take the boat to the back of WS and work my way around one side

Also, from the Poly, the easiest thing to do is to walk to the TTC and take the express monorail to EPCOT. It is much faster than taking the resort line around to the TTC. Depending on where you are in the resort, it can even be a shorter walk to the TTC than to the monorail station at the resort.

I am wondering about going straight to WS bypassing the front of the park. How do I get to International Gateway from Pop? And do you go thru turnstiles back there? Trying to split Epcot into 2 days this year, to save my back. Just can't do it all in one day like I used to.

The easiest way from Pop would be to take a bus to DHS then a boat to the IG. Not a quick way, to be sure, but that would put you in WS.

You could also do a taxi or Uber to Beach Club, then walk.

It's a standard gate, with bag check and touchpoints.
