Easiest way to add on board credit??

That's great if it works for you. I have to say I disagree with Ramsey about CC. Credit cards are not evil. It's people's fault(not the CC) if the don't have the self control to use them properly. I would never want to travel out of the country without a credit card though. It's so much easier and cheaper than worrying about currency exchange. If you don't travel internationally then I guess it's not as big a issue.

I agree. Credit cards aren't evil, the lack of education around them and wild spending can be. He never says cc's are evil, he gives people an option to live debt free and we have chosen to follow that plan. It works for us. I know how much actual cash we have allotted to extras on the cruise and I want to spend that cash, not adding any extra interest or fees is a big motivater for me. We have a no fee cc in case we need it I just prefer not to. Not trying to debate the validity of his plan just trying to figure out if there is an easy way to vacation the way we like and we won't be using any credit cards.

We also never give them a credit card because when you do, they make you sign something saying they will charge things to it like a "missing" wave phone. We prefer to have them contact us and bill us as opposed to them charging without our review. We opt for no credit card at online check in, but they will ask you again at the port when you check in. Usually, this is no problem, but we have a couple of times experienced a bit of a push to get us to register a card. We just said we would be paying in cash and gift card and rewards card, and they moved on. Just to add, we have never been over charged or unfairly charged or billed by dcl, so this is just a personal preference. Another aside, we love Dave Ramsey too, but find it hard to always follow his advice!

Not trying to debate anything. I think my point was on exchange rates on foreign currency. If you dont have to worry about that then no big deal.

There is another thing, we use a Chase Disney Visa card, and when we use it for Disney related stuff we get some perks, for DCL for example if you use it to charge your cruise, it earns you a $50 onboard credit, plus you earn Disney Rewards Dream Dollars so you can use them to cash in for credit or cash back from Chase. Some people don't like credit cards and that's fine, using cash, or using debit cards or Disney Gift Cards for the onboard charges are all fine methods. I don't know if it has been covered but if you go on shore excursions or just to sight see, take cash, most foreign exchange rates on credit cards are way too steep, plus you're risking fraud or even getting hit by "transaction fee's" for just using the card at a merchant.

I wanted to avoid using credit cards as much as possible during the trip. I brought cash on board and went straight to guest services and put it on my account. I also had a credit card on file as back up...but it was never used. When the trip was finished, we still had left over cash. So I went to guest services and they gave me what wasn't used. It was very painless and easy. I saw people come to guest services with a bajillion gift cards. That seemed too complicated for me, but I'm sure they had that all figured out.

You can add OBB to your account before you sail. You can use a debit card, credit card or gift card. Just FYI if you don't want to take cash.

If you have left over cash from a debit card do they refund you the difference right then or does that refund take a few days? Asking bc we are spending a week in WDW after and would love to add the unused portion to that as well.

They will refund it the last night of the cruise. It takes the normal 3 to 4 business days to show up on your card.
