Well, looks like I'm in uncharted territory, at least for me. Driving from MCO to Royal Pacific Resort. What's going to be my easiest route? Arriving on Sunday, the 3rd, around noon. I've never driven east out of MCO, just south!!!

Run it through google maps. That's the best way.
Well, duh!!!! Why didn't I think of that? Oh, wait a minute, I did!!!!:magnify::) And the three routes I got are within about 5 mins driving time of each other. So....kind of hoped someone here, who's familiar with all the routes, might have some insights into the pros and cons. :car:

Then the only real variable is rush hour. You can plug in the time you travel into google maps to find the quickest one. I can't imagine what else there is to consider.

528 west to I-4 east to the Universal exit and follow the signs. I think. The first time I stayed at Universal I took the shuttle, and the other time I took International Drive from the Peabody.

I understand how google works....I understand how plugging in the time of day works. I have done that here, in Mass, when I head out through a busy city. And you know what? It's not always right!!! I have taken the recommended route, only to find out what the locals know would have been a better choice. That was my point. When given three options, that are very similar, I ask for advice.
So, I guess I'll just figure it out, rather than asking here. I now understand how posters feel when asking a pretty straightforward question and being told to go elsewhere to find their answers. A whole new understanding, a learning experience for me. Now I'll be more agreeable when new people post here.

I agree you should check Google just before departure. It's usually pretty good at adjusting for traffic delays, although major delays are pretty unlikely on a Sunday afternoon.

Usually the best route is
  • North exit to 528 BeachLine west to I-4. Heading north out of the airport, the rightmost lane exits to Cargo Rd. (I think), & the 2nd from right exits to 528 east before the 528 west ramp. There's major construction on 528 between OBT & I-4, but there's no better route.
  • Exit right to I-4 east. First exit after I-Drive, just before 528 merges into I-4 west.
  • On I-4, get in the 2nd right lane (right lane exits to I-Drive), and stay there one exit past I-Dr. onto Universal Blvd.
  • Turn left into the leftmost lane at the top of the ramp onto Universal Blvd.
  • Just across I-4, another left turn to the Universal resorts. The resorts are on left; I can't remember whether LRPR is the 1st or 2nd left.
If there's trouble between I-Drive and Universal on 528 or I-4, Google will probably direct you to exit 528 onto Universal Blvd. northbound and follow that around across I-4. It's local with stoplights, but moves much better than I-Drive.

I can have my daughter pick you up & drop you off! Oh wait, she's gonna be up here on the 3rd. She'll be here Tuesday night. I'll check with her & let you know. It's a pretty common trip for her. Safe travels!

You're too funny!!! The odd thing is that although my daughter works at US, she has zero idea what the best route from MCO is!!! She drives up from Clermont...which is a whole different issue. She'll be looking for an apartment closer to US after the holidays!!
Well, I guess I'll just hop on 528 and go with the flow! Thanks all.

Ya know we really need to hook the girls up! What does she do at US? Katie is in entertainment. And she comes up from Kissimmee. I think she'd like to move closer too but she has a very inexpensive apartment & can't find anything in that price range closer.

Kate is currently working Race Through NY...loves it. She has to wait until her six months is up, then she starts auditioning. She really wants to get into entertainment somehow. She really needs more hours though....just not cutting it as they start taking away shifts. Her boyfriend just started a second job in an escape room somewhere in the area. So, Kate is sending out job applications to all sorts of places. I wish she would head back to Disney but she's very hesitant....she didn't have the best college program experience. But, I've told her that regular CMs are treated differently than CPs are...so to get back there and give it six months. If she still hates it, then leave. But she loves US!!!! Just needs to be closer...I've told her to look for places that are between US and WDW...that should help.
My Kate is tall, redheaded, from Westborough Ma....if your dd sees her, tell her to say hi!!!! What is your dd doing in entertainment??

Ok and we both have KATES?!?!? Mine is a short brunette from Enfield, CT. We got into Race thru NY on soft opening while I was down in March. I LOVED the queue but the ride not so much. Katie works at Suessland mostly. She was in the parade til they dropped the Hop float. She is also close friends with Lisa Simpson and Dora the Explorer. And you have to try an escape room when you go down. They really are awesome! My Katie says US pays better than Disney. I know last year when they shut the parks down for the Hurricane (dont remember which), US paid their employees for the missed shift. Disney did not.

That's too funny! Two Kate's. I'll have to mention your Katie to her. Seems to be a lot of Ct kids there.
One of her trainers is in entertainment. Kate asked if there is opportunity for girls her height..5'10''. Evidently there's a lot more available there than at Disney. I'm just concerned about long term prospects. Probably more with Disney. Oh well. Her life, not mine.

And my Kate is just under 5' so she fits lots of costumes. She's auditioned for Disney many times but never got past call backs. She is trying to get into show direction now
