Easier to make rope drop with ART or using rental car?

We will be staying off property (I think we are leaning towards Hilton or Red Lion), and I would like to hear opinions on making rope drop when you are not walking. We will more than likely have a rental since we also plan to do US and Hollywood. We are planning on first week of June in 2013. Super EXCITED! I just don't know whether to use ART or rental to make it to parks early enough. I am hoping they will return to having some non-EE days so we are not always behind the crowds!

I hear a lot of people staying in that area will walk across the street to the Toy Story parking lot and then take the tram to the gates.

If your staying at the hilton or red lion, you can use the disney shuttle from the toy story parking lot, Parking lots open one hour prior to the published Disneyland Park opening time. the toy story lot is about a 8-10 minute walk from both hotels. the red lion is right next to the toy story lot.

The ART busses stop at both hotels , route 4 stops at the hilton and route 6 stops in front of the red lion.

It will take about 15 minutes to walk to the parks from either hotel.
