Hi all! I'm fairly new here and trying to gather as much information as possible. From everything I see BLT is unmatched as far as ease of getting into Magic Kingdom. I'm planning a September/October trip for my family. We have 2 little ones age 5 and 1. It's extremely important for us to avoid the long haul back to a resort during the day for a quick break/nap. And from what I'm seeing, getting on Disney transportation after fireworks can be miserable. Is BLT the only way to go to avoid these issues? Is it really a 10 minute walk back to the resort? I appreciate any help you guys can provide!

A 10 minute walk sounds about right for both BLT and the Contemporary as they are certainly the closest of the monorail hotels to MK.

I don’t find returning from the parks miserable but I’m neither traveling with littles anymore or waiting until the end to leave.

Enjoy your visit and have fun!

Thank you for confirming the quick walk. I dont think any of the Disney forms of transportation is terribly inconvenient for midday naps but my concern was trying to jump on a loaded bus with 2 kids and 2 strollers after fireworks. Staying at BLT seems like a worthwhile upgrade.

It doesn't get the same "close walk to MK" accolades as CR/BLT as the walk is longer, but honorable mention to GF for walkable access as well. The shorter distance to CR/BLT is certainly easier with tired little legs and when peak mid day temps are involved, but GF is plenty doable for most. I would give CR the slight nod though for overall transportation when factoring in other parks.

With the young ages of your little ones, you’ll probably spend a good deal of time at the MK and I agree that CR/BLT is a great choice for ease of “commuting”. I think you’ll find it to be very convenient.
Thanks for confirming.

I know people love the ease of access via walking, but I did that walk once and it was longer than I was anticipating and I was glad to not be pushing a double stroller....the monorail we didn't want to wait for beat us to CR 🙃. I found the Polynesian easy enough to stay in with a double.

But I know I'm the outlier in that feeling.

Thanks for the info! I'm sure any of the monorail resorts are super easy travels. And I enjoy the monorail ride. The main point of convenience for walking would be after fireworks in the event it is full.

It really is an incredibly easy walk back at the end of the night. By the time you've exited the park from the fireworks and the crowds have split (some to monorail, some to boats, some to buses, some to CR/BLT, some to GF walkway), you'll already be well on your way to the resort. The only exit/walk to a resort we find close to as convenient is exiting the IG at EPCOT and walking to BC.

Yes, after fireworks the lines to get onto the monorail, buses and ferry are all epic. The walk to BLT/CR is much shorter than the wait for the monorail is likely to be, unless you watch fireworks from Town Square, duck under the RR tracks as soon as they end, and run for it. With two littles and two strollers or even one double stroller, I’d book BLT or CR without a doubt.

We never made it that late so it wasn't an issue for us (but also we had splurged with a refund from a cancelled 2020 trip with Theme park view at the Poly, so would either watch them from the beach or from our patio)

That walk back to BLT for a midday nap is pretty nice. We stayed there when DS was younger for just that reason. And leaving MK late, seeing bus, boat, and monorail lines and just walking past...worth it. A plus for us was watching the electrical water pageant from our balcony while he slept. I highly recommend BLT for families with littles spending lots of time in MK. The studios are small though! If you can wing a 1-bedroom, I'd do it.

I'd add that GF also had boat access which can be really nice.

I would walk to MK but for the afternoon nap I would relax a bit and hop on the resort monorail as it won’t be crowded during that time as everyone is usually getting off at MK and then BLT is the first stop. If you are staying late in the evening I probably would just walk back as the it should have cooled off somewhat by then and the crowds for the monorail will increase.
