Earthquake in Anaheim. Reconsidering GCV?

i'm also a Californian and i think it may be different for us because we live here and are used to these acts of nature. Follow your gut....

The Sylmar quake was the first one I can remember. I was three at the time and living in Long Beach. It happened around 6:00 a.m. and my brother and I ran over to the window to watch everything shaking outside. We lived in a two story house so the view was pretty good. My parents ran in to get us and drag us away from the windows. I was disappointed because I thought it was fun. I know earthquakes really scare some people but I've never lived in fear of them like some people I know.

What gets me is that the earthquake is still being talked about in the news. Just this morning, the Today show mentioned it yet again. I have grown up in So Cal all my life. My mother lives only 4 miles form the epicenter of the 1994 Northridge quake. She had very little damage from it. She has a one story. I happened to be in the old Kinko's headquarters building on Tuesday. That building was moving! It was because the building was made to take the motion of an earthquake. My house has earthquake straps on it to keep the two story building intact. My kids hardly felt it on Tuesday. They had to look at the hanging lamps to see if they were swinging to make sure there was a quake. My point is this: we live with quakes every day here in So Cal. It seems that every year a new building is built, they are made more robust to the damaging effects of an earthquake. At one time a 5.0 would be devastating. I'm sure the GCV is being built with all the latest knowledge in keeping a building intact and safe during an earthquake. Not to mention that their insurance would be reduced. Our insurance was lowered due the the straps mentioned earlier. I will have no problem being at the GCV during an earthquake,
