Earrings On Old Men

I don't care for any kind of jewelry on a guy. Not sure why. Just doesn't seem appealing to me.

I guess it's really not any of my business if a guy wears jewelry or earrings, or whatever. If it makes them happy, then go for it.

I'm still scratching my head over the 'creepy' comments. What exactly is creepy about it?

As long as it's not just plain gaudy, I don't care. Actually, gaudy on anyone is not good. DH is in his 60s and has had one for years. He lost it one time and I didn't even notice! Shows how much I care if he has it or not I guess. :confused3

If they always wore one, why should they stop when they get older? Doesn't really matter to me one way or the other. As a PP said, jewelry on young boys bothers me more for some reason.

Because you are supposed to stop all forms of fun self expression when you reach a certain age. :sad2:

Well I didn't get the memo, I'm getting a tattoo on my foot for my 55th birthday :dance3:

:thumbsup2 My dad always told me never to get a tattoo because I would "regret it someday." Well, I'm turning 42. I figure, this IS "someday."

while i don't really care what other people do, i don't personally find it attractive. it seems a little silly for any man to wear big, gaudy earrings. it doesn't matter how old he is. i think it looks just as silly for a young guy to wear hoops or big diamonds.

I try to remember that today's "old men" (and women) are not necessarily of the mindset that we expect them to be. Consider that someone who was 20 odd years old and attending Woodstock in 1969 is now 62+ years old. THAT is today's "old man." They may be pierced, enjoy their hair long, have stellar taste in music (), and have a more liberal view of...all kinds of things.

Not to say the big band, rocking chair crew doesn't still exist. We just need to start getting used to the idea that our old folk will be much cooler than we are traditionally used to! :hippie:

(may I edit to add that I don't think early sixties is "old." I'm just addressing the OP.)
Thank you! Based on what appears almost daily on the DIS, I'm surprised how much more liberal my general point of view is than most of the (apparently younger) posters.

I'm with you there! :thumbsup2

Thing is, the 'certain age' is permanently seven to ten years older than the affected individual. Not the spouse, the kids, an employer, friends, anonymous message board participants (okay, maybe an employer).

I was trying to be tactful ;). Really, I'm outraged and offended by much of what's being said in this thread. "Creepy"? "Old"? "Disgusting"?
I am a bit outraged myself. I wonder if any of those "creepy, old and disgusting" individuals might be reading some of these comments?

Well, I could stop at the tattoo parlor on my way to work later... my skin's already old and saggy, so that creepiness factor is out of the way :lmao: I'm thinking something tasteful on my shoulder. Morgan Freeman, maybe? ;)

:rotfl2:

You know what? I am literally planning a tattoo based upon which spider veins I want to hide!

So now a tat is not just decorative, but functional too!
