Earplugs?

Does anyone use earplugs at Disney, and could you recommend a brand? My father is sensitive to loud nosies, and I thought that earplugs may help him during our Disney trip.

I believe that there are some that filter out loud noises, but you're able to distinguish between shrieks and conversation.

Thanks for any help!

We have used them on occasion, mainly for my son, but I also used some at a Hannah Montana concert I recently took my daughter too, and I was still able to hear everything, it just wasn't as intense. No "concert ears" here!!

I can't remember the brand names, but one pair we really liked were a soft, pliable silicone rubber type that is moldable. It fits to your personal shape of your ear and is actually very comfortable. The other pair we like were more of a sponge rubber and they were OK....the insertion was a little awkward because you had to squish it down, then insert it, then let it release and it would fit in, but it always felt a little out of my control, hard to explain.

My son's favorite way of drowning out really loud sounds is actually something your father might like. We have a pair of Sony noise canceling headphones. They're fairly small, have a nice cushion on them, and we hooked them up to an MP3 player and my son uses that whenever we are out in places where the crowd volume will be higher than what he can tolerate.

Maybe you could get an Ipod or MP3 player, download some of your father's favorite music, then get a pair of Sony or Bose headphones. They fold up so small, they really are not cumbersome at all.

Just a thought, HTH,

:rotfl2: I'm with you...we just did the same for a Jonas Brothers concert!:rotfl2:
We used Mack's pillow soft earplugs which are like a clay that can be molded to fit your ear. Hubby found it took the edge off of thousands of screaming pre-teen girls, but you could still hear the music.

These are the kind we use, I think. What we have are your standard-issue factory ear plugs. DH works in manufacturing and that is what they wear.

The downside for us is that DS will pull one out and can't get it back in by himself. We have to do the squish part for him. I suspect your father would be able to handle that on his own. ;)

The up side is they're cheap and disposable. I plan on taking at least one pair per day, maybe two, if he loses one it's no biggie.

At work, they just hand DH a bunch of them every week and he brings home the extras- he always just leaves them in his lunchbox anyway and I grab them out every now and then. If you know someone who works in a plant, they could probably get you a few pair easy enough.
