I'm thinking about getting a Disney Rewards Visa. There are a few things I don't understand. Could someone help me out?

Why to some people say they paid for their trip in full on the Visa and let it sit on the card during the 0% time period? Does having the money sitting there give you more rewards?

Am I correct that you receive one reward point for every $100 dollars spent?

Thanks!:goodvibes

You get points for the INITIAL charge, so there is no benefit to carrying a balance. So if you charge $3000 for the trip, you will get 30 points back.

You are correct you get one point for every $100 though sometimes they do have "specials" where you can earn more.

Thank you very much for your response!

One more question. I remember reading somewhere (but I can't find it) that if you book a disney cruise using your Disney Visa, you will receive $50 on board credit. Is that true and, if so, must the entire trip be paid using the Visa? I've already made by deposit, but would gladly pay the rest on the Visa if it will count towards OBC. Thanks!

I believe that the cruise has to be booked using a Disney VISA code in order to get the $50 onboard credit and the entire trip needs to be paid for using the VISA.

Oh, and the reason why I leave the trip on my card for 6 months at 0% interest is b/c I can collect interest in the bank for 6 months on the money that would have paid for the trip. It may not be a lot, but it's free money that Chase is willing to let me earn for 6 months, so why not take advantage of it? Last year's combined cruise and free dining trip was over $5000, which stayed on the card at the promotional rate until it was due. The money sat in my money market account accruing interest for 6 more months courtesy of Chase. Of course, I'm sure that they expect most people not to read the fine print or not have the funds available 6 months down the road. Those people get dinged for pretty hefty interest charges when that happens.
