That's great Julia. Also a bit unusual since most places won't allow credit card purchases like that. I've tried a couple of times to pay for a car purchase with Visa but the dealers wouldn't let me. I realize why, of course. They would be stuck paying 2% of the purchase in fees.
We use our reward card (Marriott and AOL, not Disney) everywhere we possibly can. The usual bills, groceries, gas, local-long distance-cell phone bills, auto insurance premiums, alarm company, magazine and newspaper subscriptions, internet access and more. In fact, I hardly ever pay for anything with cash. We easily charge over $30,000/year. Of course, we NEVER carry a balance so we never pay a penny in interest charges. But we certainly reap the rewards of all the points we accumulate.
Its a nice treat when you get to use your card for a big ticket item like your timeshare purchase. It never hurts to ask if you can pay by credit card when you are faced with a bill for anything. They just might say yes and let you get a bunch of extra reward points.
