Earmuffs in June? Update 7/5 Trip Report Link!

I love the Perry shirt! And the Toy Story shirts look really cute, too. I love a good trip to the Disney Store.

Have you ever seen Boy Meets World? They all have Mr. Feeny for a teacher from sixth grade through college. He must have gotten really burned out. :rotfl:

Hello! Your trip sounds like fun! You are going to love POR -- that's where we've stayed the last three trips. The theme is very peaceful and green. My DS loves the waterslide there too!

I can understand the burnout. Due to low enrollment, I was abruptly switched to full time grade 4 this year after 7 years in K (teaching only half time to boot), and I was told the day before we hopped on a plane for WDW. I had one day at school after we got back before the staff days started! While I know my class is getting solid instruction, I know it's not as exciting as it could be -- I just don't have the time to create instructional materials that are both quality and fun. (My district doesn't believe in buying programs for anything other than math and writing, so all of my reading, language arts, science, and social studies lessons must be created out of thin air.) I keep telling myself it'll get better! :)

I'm glad your Disney store trip cheered you up, even when you were the only one happy about it!

Did you go? I hope so! I want to see what you got!

Yeah, we went this morning. I will have to show you pictures when I get a chance to take pictures of them. I got the 5 reasons T-shirt for my daughter, plus a cute princess shirt, and a really cute pink Cinderella shirt. My daughter is obsessed with all things Cinderella. She is going to wear that one to 1900 Park Fare when we eat with Cinderella. I got the Buzz Lightyear shirt for my son, along with a Jack Skellington shirt, and a Animal monster shirt (He really loves the 3-D movie at DHS). He can't wait to wear it when we go. I let him pick out his shirts. He was so excited. I was so excited that I could use my Disney Visa and get 10% plus it will be nice to add the extra rewards points to our card.

Then....we were off to Target where I found even more Disney shirts for cheap. We bought two more princess shirts and my son wanted a Mike shirt (Monsters Inc), a vintage Mickey shirt, and a Cars shirt. They had more, but I didn't want to go too overboard. Is that really possible though? We had a really fun day today and it definitely makes vacation seem like it's closer. Now after shopping and 2 birthday parties today...I'm off to bed.

Finn's shirt- they didn't have 2/3, so we got a 4T. If needed, we'll use it next year.

Love the things you bought - but had to tell you that I got this same t-shirt for both of my boys for our trip this weekend! Love it!!! Will definitely have to share pics!! :thumbsup2

I just found your PTR this morning and couldn't stop reading it. Your kids are ADORABLE!! Loved the mini-TR from your last trip. Looks like you guys had a wonderful time. Sophie made the prettiest princess!

Your plans for your upcoming trip look great! Pirates League will be lots of fun. You're very brave to be going with so many family members! We went in Sept/Oct 09 with several members of DH's family and it was tons of fun, but got a bit stressful towards the end. It's good that you all don't feel the need to stick together 24/7. That was one of our mistakes, I think.

Looking forward to more of your PTR!

I hope it works! :goodvibes

LOVE the gymnastic photos, what a BEUTY and so talented!!! Also, loved those shirts, especially the Princess one. I am a sucker for Princess stuff, I am certain I missed my calling in life. :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Thank you so much! She has fun with it.

You are right! I never thought of that! Poor Mr. Feeny! Luckily, I don't live next door to any of my students!

I am so excited about POR. I think it will be right uo my alley. I couldn't imagine a switch that abrupt! I hear you on the time crunch too. And reinventing the wheel just isn't always doable just to make something "fun.". I'm just looking forward to spring!

It is soooo cute! I love Phineas and Ferb!

Thank you so much, and welcome!!! I'm really hoping the trip isn't stressful. I think I am mentally detaching myself from the family aspect. I also am going to be crazy planner for the first several days before the rest of the group arrives. I really want to get as much done as possible before then so I don't feel like I HAVE to do anything else.

Three words......

It's March 1st!!!!!!

I have been waiting for March 1st since the beginning of my nemesis, February. I can see the light! It's almost spring! HOORAY!!! My class is happily at music right now and I'm actually enjoying a break and not scarfing down my lunch for once. And this morning, one of my lovely students came in bearing 6 garbage bags of clothes for Sophie. The mom asked a couple weeks ago and said she was just going to donate them. So I quickly snatched them up! Sweet! That's one benefit of working in a small, private school...close relationship with families (and ability to take hand outs! :rotfl:). I can't wait to go home and go through the bags. We also have a small group from church coming over tonight. We're doing pizza (which I have to carefully plan for with weight watchers...ugh).

I need to make a list of things I don't want to forget before going to WDW. I will also enter all this into my pass porter. I'm sure it will be the first of many lists!!!

Beignets at POFQ
Caramel at EPCOT
Dole Whip
Tonga Toast
Pick a Pearl

Go on eBay and order setting for pearl
Order photopass preorder
Buy plushes to put in hotel room
Buy vinylmation

Make DVC appt

Counter service restaurants to check out:
Earl of Sandwich
Sunshine Seasons (is that what it's called?)
Restaurantosaurus
Wolfgang Puck's

Any other suggestions of must do counter service. I want to have some kind of a plan.

There were three counter service places that we ended up going to twice last time- Pecos Bill's, Restaurantosaurus, and Sunshine Seasons. We went back to Pecos Bill's because of the taco salad and the fixings bar.

I think our favorite counter service meal was at Restaurantosaurus, but we love shrimp poboys and sweet potato fries, so I'm not sure that would appeal as much to everyone. And of course, Sunshine Seasons, partly due to the convenient location and partly due to the variety. And the key lime pie.

We really liked Pecos Bill and Columbia Harbour House. Pecos Bill's Taco Salad is yummy and CHH was nice because we ate upstairs and it was a nice break from the crowds..we tend to eat early so the line ups aren't too bad.

OK, adding Restaurantosaurus to my list, and I would also like to try Wolfgang Puck's.

Hmmm...never heard of CHH. I'll have to look that one up. Thanks!

Gosh, I think you got my undivided attention at beignets.

They are little pieces of heaven!

A parent brought them for the staff one of my first years of teaching. I'm not sure they were the traditional ones, though. In any case, I'm sure I'll love them!

We like CHH, too. We like the fried shrimp meals and Carter seems to like the mac and cheese there. And it's sort of peaceful, assuming it's not horribly crowded.

Why is my ticker not working? Grrr! I'm sorry for not updating for awhile. My mind has been on other things (gasp!). I was approached by the principal of a school I have been interested in teaching in for a long time. She told me that there was an opening in 2nd grade next year! I quickly updated my resume and cover letter, filled out the lengthy application, got some letters of reference, and copied my transcripts. I dropped everything off yesterday. Because the principal approached me, and this position has not been advertised, my hopes are high, but I don't want to get them too high!!! This would be fantastic as my current school is a negative situation for me. The parents and the kids are great, but the owner routinely yells and belittles. The pay is low and there are no benefits. I work 9 hour days in the building plus all I do at home. On top of all that, if we want to get paid, we have to work Christmas and spring break for the extended care program. Needless to say, 7 years is ENOUGH! I'm ready for a change. Can I please have some prayers from any prayer warriors out there? That God would help me secure this job? I'd really appreciate it!

Prayers for you and that God will guide you in the direction you need to go! Wonderful when things begin to 'just happen' and you seem very deserving!!

I'm praying everything works out for you and your family! :)

And sorry to hear about your ticker. That's very strange  You may need to go back and start a new one...

Hi! What a beautiful family! Your kids are adorable. I am very curious to hear about this going with 30 people thing. You all aren't going to be dressing in bright yellow and pretending to be Brazilian, are you?

I was only 21 when I got married, too. We honeymooned at Coronado Springs. I bet the Wonder was really cool when it was new.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:Pirate Kate -- You've been to WDW in January I can tell!

just joining in but I'm a big mouth, can't resist commenting....:rolleyes1

Thank you so much! I am quietly consumed by this, which I know isn't good! Especially if I DON'T get the job!

Prayers for you and that God will guide you in the direction you need to go! Wonderful when things begin to 'just happen' and you seem very deserving!!

Thank you! I hope wonderful things are happening!
