Hello -
Is it still possible like to activate your theme parks tickets a couple days before your arrival if the tickets are park of a package?

We have a Resort/Ticket package booked for January 20–25.

We are arriving on January 18th and staying at the Swan.

Are we able to activate our tickets from the “package” for use on the 18 and 19th? We have done this in the past, but it was a few years ago before the new tickets.

Thank you!

Unless there is some specific reason that you bought tickets as part of your resort stay...
I suggest that you cancel your "package" tickets and buy new stand-alone tickets with a starting date that includes the date you will arrive.

(If you have FPs already booked, buy your new tickets and connect them to your MDX account
BEFORE you cancel your "package" tickets.)

You could even buy the tickets from an authorized discounter and save some money.

We were told that we could not do this in September. We were allowed to upgrade to APs though 😂.

We were able to activate our package tickets one day early this week. We went to Guest Relations at the Magic Kingdom and they did it no problem at all.

--this answer is relevant to my interests! I'm planning to upgrade to AP during my trip, but when I bought my tickets through UT I wasn't planning to go AP and set the ticket to start the morning after my arrival. If they'd let me upgrade a January 25 ticket to AP on January 24 and immediately start using it, that could get me a couple extra hours of park time. I just assumed they wouldn't let me do that since my understanding is that I need to tap in with the ticket before I can upgrade it.

This is similar to the question I had and the explanation here and from customer service was confusing, at best.

I have a package ticket but am arriving earlier than the rest of my group. I want to add on a park day for just me on my arrival day. Cust svc just told me I could activate my ticket a day earlier, and no matter how much I explained that want an additional day they just tell me to activate my resort reservation. That will mean I’ve used up my park tickets before our planned last day.

After your other guests have arrived, you CAN add a day to your ticket.
You can do that at any time up to as late as ON the same day that you use you current ticket’s last asset.

You do NOT need to use any part of your ticket in order to upgrade it. You CAN, if you like (or not.) It will not affect the ability to upgrade or your upgrade price, either way.

That‘s the clearest answer I’ve had and you’re the first one to tell me i have to wait until the others arrive to add.

Is there any way to know how much it will cost me? Cust service told me i need to go to guest services after I get there to sort that out. I dunno...I have visions of ending up on the hook for an additional day for everyone on my reservation.

1. Read post #6 in the TICKETS sticky post near the top of this forum.
2. Nope .

Those posts are very confusing at least for me - no offense intended, truly

There is no separate price for my individual park ticket. We have a package. Even Disney customer service said that. Still, yes, I can do the math (divide up our package price, and park days) but it doesn’t work out to the same $ as if i just add a day on a theoretical ticket only reservation for my dates.

Setting all that aside, it’s preposterous that Disney can’t at give me a quote as to the cost difference

1. I have to be very specific about which kind ticket you have in order to be accurate.
2. OK, thanks. ;)
3. I address package tickets in post #6 in the TICKETS sticky. I specifically mention them.
Package tickets are "worth" the exact same amount as if you had bought
your ticket, stand-alone, on-line from Disney.
4. You were talking to a CM who likely has no training regarding these things.
5. If you will read post #6, nowhere does it say to do that kind of math.
6. That's because the charges don't work that way.

Let me see if I can make it more clear.

Thank you. I get it now but I’m not sure Disney agrees. CM could have been wrong. Though he was supposedly a ticket specialis.

I’ll try to remember to update with actual results in a couple of weeks if I decide to try for the extra day just to go to Epcot for the evening

:)
Forgot to add that now theres a discount on 4 day tickets. Will they give me the new discounted difference or what that 4th day would have been when I booked?
thanks again

My daughter had not tapped in before she upgraded her package ticket to an AP and I had not even landed in the US and they let her upgrade my ticket at the same time.

Neat! I'm really glad to hear that!

I was thinking about it more last night and realized that while I may not want to make my arrival evening hectic by trying to get rides in, it may be worth it to me to go over to a park and do the upgrade then (even if I don't stay to play) just so I don't have to deal with it during my first full park day and can start using the discounts right away. Triple-checked the calendar and I've got plenty of overlap for my planned 2021 trip, so activating it a day early won't hurt anything.

Just edit your start date on the ticket. You can move it to the date when you actually will arrive. Then once you get to WDW worry about upgrading to an AP.

I moved our tickets from I think it was September 2nd to August 30th this year. Just go in to the Disney website and you should see the option about editing tickets (same location as adding extra days or adding on hoppers from what I remember).

I had no idea you could do that! Thanks, that was actually really quick and easy--and thankfully there wasn't any price difference to pay. I don't know that it makes any difference as far as upgrading to AP, but I figured no harm in moving it up a day either way.

You won’t have a problem. If starting a ticket on the 24th was more than the 25th, that will just be part of the upgrade cost.

i have done it without issue!

ETA: I see you already adjusted.
