I know we say many times that there are no "slow" times at WDW anymore but this past week sure was. We arrived on 09/8 and headed to AK at 8:45 on Monday along with only 5 other families (and it had already stopped at Kidani) most afternoons there were maybe 10 families at the pool. Only had a full bus once in 10 days.

We got walk ins at LTT, Biergarten, Sci Fi. At Pizzafari at noon the CMs were standing in front of their podiums waiting for someone to order.

It was hot as heck (95+) but other than the disaster that was Villains Unleashed, it was the least crowded we have seen the parks in years. We loved it!

Sounds great!! Our kids went to a year round elementary school in NC that had intersession the last 2 weeks of Sept and the 1st week of Oct. Twice we took advantage of that and went to WDW the 1st week of our intersession (if we knew about F&W then, we might have gone a week or 2 later, but we didn't know). While, I agree, it was hot as Hades...it was low low low crowds and we LOVED it. We were so bummed when we moved to MD in 2007 and had to go back to a traditional school schedule.

I'm not sure it is a secret, but I do think it is probably the least desirable vacation time for most people. Primarily because school is just starting up.

We went mid-September last year, and it was amazing. It isn't like the parks were empty, by any stretch. But waiting significant amounts of time for anything was really not necessary. I mean there were long lines for certain things at peak times of day. But it was hardly noticeable to just do something else until that window of time passed.

Since I don't think this is caused by a secret, I doubt it is going to change any time soon, unless a lot more school calendars shift to modified year-round schedules.

We were told that the day/week after labor day is the absolute slowest day of the year--Epcot was EMPTY. It was still nice and warm.

Yes, we've been to Disney during Labor Day and the week after, and while the crowds are very low (except on the weekend), I HATED the weather.
