A Universal newbie here. My girlfriend got an offer we could not refuse, RT airfare from Memphis and 3 nights at the Holiday Inn Express near Universal for a total of $160 each, so here we come. If anyone has experiences with going the second week of September, can you tell me what crowds are like? Will I need to buy the Express Pass? Thanks!

The parks in early September are not usually busy enough to warrant purchasing the Express passes. If you get there early, you should be able to do the major attractions w/o too much of a wait. That said...if you feel the lines are getting too long, you can purchase the EP at either park but I would strongly recommend waiting until you arrive.

I went the week after labor day (2nd week of Sept) last year, and didn't need an express pass at all. We went the whole week, leaving on Saturday, and it only got slightly more busy on Friday, but lines were still manageable. Heck, I rode Jurassic Park 3 times throughout the day, and it was always a walk on. The longest line I saw was for Hulk, and it only lasted the first couple hours of opening. Have fun!!!

Thanks for the responses. Really looking forward to this.
