I have gone through touring plans to request a room. We have booked a water view with pull down bed. My question is should we do the online check in. I’d like to make sure they understand we need the pull down bed for medical reasons even though we have only four people. I worry if we do online check in where you just go to your room that they might downgrade us to a two bed room only ( heard on the boards this has happened) and I won’t have a face to face to discuss this with. But we will be in a hurry to get to room and off to a park. I will call the resort about a week out and make sure the importance of the extra bed is noted on our reservations. Anyone had issues with the online checkin? If we don’t go to the lobby I’m assuming no map. Will it be hard to find our room at CBR? Am I overthinking this online checkin thing and not seeing a person face to face is no big deal?

Any special request u need for medical reasons, I would make sure to call and have them add it to the reservations and then call again 6 days before to double-check it's on there. Room assignments are generally made 5 days in advance of your stay. Have a great time:tilt::butterfly

I wouldn't wait to call and add any room requests to your reservation, you can do that at any time. But since a 5th sleeper room is a bookable category at CBR, I can't imagine that they would push you to another catergory. You can always do online checkin and if the room doesn't work for you, you can go to the front desk and change it. Doing online checkin doesn't actually guarantee you get to skip the front desk nor does it bar you from ever visiting the front desk. We did online checkin on our last trip and our texted room assignments didn't work for us. A trip to the front desk fixed it quickly.

The room assignment process isn't any different whether you check in online or at the desk. Either way, you'll be preassigned a room in advance of your arrival, and you can discuss your room assignment with the front desk. There's a misconception floating around that if you do online check-in, you're sort of barred from asking for a different room at the front desk, and that's not the case.

If you've got special medical needs, do not depend on a faxed request from a third party. Call the reservation line now and let them know what you need, so the agent can type your request right into your reservation record. There's no need to wait till 5 days out, and calling the published number for the resort connects you to a call center, not the resort itself.

Thank you! I will call the reservation line ASAP and then check back a few days before our trip.

Given that online checkin by NO means always allows you to go straight to your room, I wonder if you have a misconception of what it is. While many have luck with that aspect of it, some/many others don’t. In all my time doing online checkin since room-ready became a possibility, I’ve gotten such a text exactly once. And it was the second checkin of a split stay.

Online checkin at its heart just gives them your info, lets them know what time you think you’ll arrive, and IF you make a request with it, lets them know of the request. In your case, don’t make any requests with it.

And you can always go to the front desk.

Thank you for clearing this up! I’m not sure why/where I got that impression. I’d prefer to see someone at the desk anyways. Thank you again for this explanation.

We are staying at OKW and have called member services, the hotel line, have set a request through online check-in and are having touring plans fax a request for us to have a first floor room or building with an elevator since we will have an ECV so this will be essential.

I wish I could find a number for the front desk at OKW, as I would also call then directly. Unfortunately every number I find just sends to me to a central desk that covers all resorts.

Can you do this phone in request if you’re renting DVC points at a resort?

You have zero control over the reservation until you check in if you don't own the points used to make the reservation.

Thank you! I will go ahead and check in and see what happens from there. I appreciate your taking the time to reply.
