Early morning view from our backyard

First I saw this:
Beautiful moon!

Then I saw this. Every few weeks or so, we see one or more hot air balloons gliding over our backyard. Usually they're too far away by the time I see them, but this time I managed to grab my camera and snap a few pics.

They're so quiet when they glide by. It makes for a very peaceful scene!

Luvflorida DW and I are kinda like you. We live just on the outskirts of Albuquerque. Albuquerque is famous for the balloon fiesta in October. So in October we have many hot air balloons that travel our way. We also see some on the weekends as well (non fiesta times). Great pictures.

Our backyard borders a small semi-private airport. When we first moved here, we had a lot of balloons take off from here. I'll never forget the first one. It was spring, just a few days after we moved into the house. We had left the window open. I was sound asleep on an early Saturday morning when I was woken up to the sound of a raging fire. I thought that our house was on fire. I jumped out of bed and ran to the window. To my surprise, there was a balloon very low over our backyard. I honestly thought that if I stuck my hand out the window, we could have shaken hands. The balloon barely cleared our roof. The smell of the fuel, the noise of the fire and my fear of heights have kept me from ever taking a ride.

I love to look at them...from a distance.

Oh, I know all about THAT view!! This winter, we are getting more requests from family and friends back in Maine asking if we have a spare room out here in sunny Arizona. We have three weeks booked up already for next winter. We need to hang a bed n' breakfast sign out front.

Hey, my husband and I are driving up there in October for that fiesta! I can't wait to see all the balloons up close. Can you recommend any hotels/motels in the area? I'm also guessing we should make our reservations soon.

Scary! Yeah, the first time we saw one of the balloons, it was pretty close. We didn't expect to look out and see a huge balloon floating by!

We have a Maine Balloon Festival each August. It is awesome some mornings to see the balloons floating over the houses....and the little swish as they put up the flame to make it go higher.....Totally awesome photos too..

I am in Maine and would love some warmth about now......
