We have an early morning flight out of SFB at 7 AM. We will have a rental car. I'm debating whether to stay at our Disney resort the last night and leave very early in the morning for the airport or if we should stay near the airport the night before. Those of you who have been in the same spot, what worked well for you? What time would we need to leave that morning?

Well the SFB is good hour away from WDW and you need to be at the airport at least 90 minutes before your flight. So you are looking at having to leave WDW around 4:00 a.m which gives you about 30 buffer. SO factor in time to get up get ready. check out and pack the car. I would get up at 3:00 a.m

So its your call.

Do be sure your car rental location is open when you plan to return the car (or have an alternate/drop box).

If staying near the airport is an option I would, any more I will! Traveling down to Disney the NB lane other side, was at a standstill from an accident. On the way to the airport I took the other route and an accident closed, or was near crawl for a long time. We nearly missed the flight.

Plus you have to stop and refuel the car, the nearest fuel is not convienant when trying to find it.

At the time you'd be traveling the traffic usually moves fine. You can check the local news for traffic reports before you go. WESH--channel 2--has it's first local news starting at 4:00 am and take the 417 if there is a problem on I-4.

If you want to stay nearer to the airport, there are some really sketchy hotels up in that area, but the Hyatt Place or Westin in Lake Mary would both be good choices. I don't think I'd recommend any of the others near the airport.

The Mobil station at the intersection of Orlando Dr (17-92) and Lake Mary Blvd is open 24/7 and is only a mile or so from the south entrance, I am sure others in that area are as well.
