Early morning long runs from the contemporary

I'd like to get a couple 6-8 mile runs from the Contemporary between 6 and 7 am. Does anyone have routes leaving from there don't require a lot backtracking? I seem to remember some sidewalks on World drive but I don't know how far those stretch.

That looks like a runDisney route - entering and exiting MK through backstage areas.

Thanks for pointing that out. When I glanced at it I was thinking it went around World Drive. I'll need to look for something else.

The only thing I have seen suggested--but it is not long enough--is to run over to MK, past the entrance and continue onto the paver path til it ends by the lagoon/canal. Also, if you do a Google street view of World Dr, there is a sidewalk that you could get if you ran across the street from the Contemporary convention area, but it endsbefore you get close to any off-roads close to Poly or WL.

You might be able to squeeze 3 miles out, but it wouldn't be a great run.

Personally I'd run the roads the buses use and go around towards the GF and back. I run on a lot of roads with cars and it really doesn't scare me to share the road with them. I know from previous posts here some don't feel comfortable doing it though. When the traffic is high I run against it but if the run is in the morning while the sun is low I would forgo that and always run with the cars that are not driving into the sun. It makes it much harder to see you when the driver is fighting the sun too.

Thanks for the tips

I looked at running on the paver toward GF to about where they end. I think it's about .9 of a mile from the front door of BLT to the pavers end. I think your right that I could probably cobble a 3 or 4 mile loop/ double out and back but that wouldn't be very fun to run twice in a row.

Are you talking about World drive. I think that wraps around north of the MK and then connects with Floridana Way. It looks like that runs down towards the Poly and then I could cut back on the road near the ttc and head back up to the Contemporary. I think we run on Floridana during the runDisney races and I don't think there is much or any shoulder on it. I'm okay with running on the roads, I just don't want to get in trouble.

I would vote for treadmill over running on the shoulder of WDW roads. People driving on property are pretty careless.

The one listed above was a route I pulled together to should viewing point, I think

I stayed BLT one year and if you do not mind going out and back twice, this makes a goos 6 miler. It runs you past MK and the monorail stain twice. I would not run this while MK is open. If around 730 -800, you can hear the park's sound and the steam trains blowing steam off in the distance.

ADDED--- While not a significant issue, pay attention to the memorial bricks just past the monorail station. Some sections have heaved through the years.

Thanks Coach. I think I'll try that route. If there isn't much traffic early in the morning I may try and add a spur running down World Drive under the water bridge. I'll watch out for the memorial stones.

Thanks for the route. I tried it this morning. I tried running under the water bridge but it only added .6 miles. Wound up running 6 miles on the treadmill first and then ran this loop to get 10 in.

At 6 am I was surprised how much traffic there was on the road in front of the contemporary even though MK doesn't open till 9 today.
