LOL Cat! If they're chocolate, I'll eat them, but not first thing in the a.m.!
Grocery ordering is kinda slick! You put in the address of the hotel. Then they need your billing address separately for your credit card. When you've done your ordering, they show you a timetable and you choose when you want it delivered, within a window of-- I think it's 1 1/2 hours, or maybe 1 hour and 15 minutes. You DON'T have to be there, happily; the hotel will take delivery of it and hold it for you at the bell desk. I have read once that DLH actually took the delivery up to the room and put the cold stuff in the fridge before the guests arrived, but mostly what I've heard is that they hold it at the front desk for you till you check in. I put our delivery time between 3:30 and 5 p.m. because I expected us to check in by 5. Our flight was a little late and I was concerned about the milk and yogurt, etc. staying out of refrigeration. However, it was all so closely packed in a cardboard box, that it was fine, still quite cold.
What I liked about Albertsons (I'm guessing Vons/Safeway is the same) is that you could just as easily order 3 bananas, 4 apples.. or 2 little containers of vanilla yogurt, 1 cherry, and 1 blueberry... Very specific amounts, at the same cost as it is in the store. If you have a customer card, you enter it and you get the same savings as if you were at the store.
Somebody here posted a discount code to get free delivery from Vons/Safeway for your first order; it's just "deliveries". Otherwise I believe it's a $9.95 delivery fee for orders under $50. I think that's both stores, I could be wrong.
HTH!
