I was looking on allears at the breakfast menus from DTD, and most of the ones I was looking at say from 8am to 10:30am or 11am, do you know of any that start serving earlier?? La Brea Bakery and the express cart didnt have a time posted on there, do you think they open early? We are looking for something to eat while "on the go", or rather, standing in line at the gate.

TIA!!

We were looking for something like that, too, and I was surprised that the Bakery Express didn't open before 8:00. Doesn't Whitewater Snacks in the Grand Californian open at 7:00, though? And I think the Coffee House at the DL Hotel also opens early - 6:00?

The Hearth Lounge in the GCH opens at 6 am for coffee and there is along line - expect to wait 10-15 minutes for your coffee! One day we purchased baked items from La Brea Bakery the night before - though do note that most DD venues seem to close by 10 pm. We also brought packages of mini muffins and granola bars in our suitcases.

We stayed at GCH in March, during spring break, when park hours were 8-midnight. So MM was at 7, and we wanted to be in line at 6:15. So! Breakfast in the room, or on the go! Following advice found here on the boards, we ordered groceries from Albertson's to be delivered around the time we checked in. We ordered fruit, yogurt, milk, juice, cereal "cups to go", pop tarts (ewwww... hubby likes them) and a rack of bottled water. Plus plastic spoons and a roll of paper towels. There are dorm fridges in the room, and it worked out great. We grabbed breakfast as we got ready in the mornings, and took whatever was unfinished with us, to eat standing in line.

Avalon - that's too funny because I was just (not 1 minute ago) looking at the Albertson's website, and I wondered "Hmmm... I wonder if they have Pop-tarts?" (Yeah, I plan on NOT dieting while I'm there!) When you order the food delivery, do you just tell them your name, hotel name and approximate time to deliver? Do they bring it to your room, or do you have to pick up your delivery at the front desk? Sorry if my questions are dumb... my first time attempting something like this. Thanks!

LOL Cat! If they're chocolate, I'll eat them, but not first thing in the a.m.!

Grocery ordering is kinda slick! You put in the address of the hotel. Then they need your billing address separately for your credit card. When you've done your ordering, they show you a timetable and you choose when you want it delivered, within a window of-- I think it's 1 1/2 hours, or maybe 1 hour and 15 minutes. You DON'T have to be there, happily; the hotel will take delivery of it and hold it for you at the bell desk. I have read once that DLH actually took the delivery up to the room and put the cold stuff in the fridge before the guests arrived, but mostly what I've heard is that they hold it at the front desk for you till you check in. I put our delivery time between 3:30 and 5 p.m. because I expected us to check in by 5. Our flight was a little late and I was concerned about the milk and yogurt, etc. staying out of refrigeration. However, it was all so closely packed in a cardboard box, that it was fine, still quite cold.

What I liked about Albertsons (I'm guessing Vons/Safeway is the same) is that you could just as easily order 3 bananas, 4 apples.. or 2 little containers of vanilla yogurt, 1 cherry, and 1 blueberry... Very specific amounts, at the same cost as it is in the store. If you have a customer card, you enter it and you get the same savings as if you were at the store.

Somebody here posted a discount code to get free delivery from Vons/Safeway for your first order; it's just "deliveries". Otherwise I believe it's a $9.95 delivery fee for orders under $50. I think that's both stores, I could be wrong.

HTH!

Avalon - you are a GODSEND!!! :worship:

I think I'm going to talk my friends into doing this. She wants fruit and stuff for the morning, since none of us are huge breakfast eaters (especially if we want to be in the parks so early), and we can get away with having a smaller breakfast, good-sized lunch and smaller dinner.

A little bit :offtopic: , but do you (or anyone else here) know if the DLH has coffee makers in the room (or if you can request one)? Yeah, can you tell we're lazy and don't want to walk around looking for food? LOL!

Thanks again!!!

DLH goes not have cofee makers in any of the rroms. That's one of the reasons for the big remodeling plan for the hotel. The wiring just can't support microwaves or coffe pots. That being said, there is nothing available for any non concierge rooms. I did notice that coffee was available early on at the Compass book store whixh is on the walk to the gates

I didn't notice if DLH had coffee makers in the rooms. However, I did notice complimentary coffee set up in the lobby of the Wonder Tower every morning. They had coffee, cups, and creamer. I never tried it, so I don't know if it was good or not.

ballarinamom - to my rescue again! Thanks much! And yakety76 - mahalo for replying. I'll pass these tidbits on to my friends who are coffee-aholics. We'd debated (and are still debating) on whether to get just the concierge service (since actual concierge rooms are all booked). I told them that since my trip is all paid for, and now I'm just trying to save spending and eating money, if they want concierge service, they have to pay for it. I also said if they wanted turn-down service and chocolates on their pillows, I could do that for them at a much lower cost. ;)

lol cat i thought id heard for first time delivery it was free with vons i could be mistaken but hay it might be true

We've done the grocery delivery too and it works great! We got a bunch of snack stuff and breakfast stuff. The breakfast stuff worked great to take with us and eat in line while waiting. Do be aware though, if your order any alcohol in grocery delivery (we ordered beer for DH) that you do have to present when they deliver to show i.d. It worked great though - we scheduled the delivery during my girls' naptime, they called my cell phone to let me know they were there and I went down to meet them. Much easier than I expected.

Does anyone know what time the GCH starts doing their room service express breakfast? If we want to be at the security gate for 6:20 would we be able to get a room service quick breakfast before then?

Coolness! Which store did you use? None of us in our party drink, so alcohol won't be a factor. It's great to know you can give your cell number, too.

Jadedarkstar - I'm gonna check out the free delivery thing at Von's, too. I'm a cheapskate. LOL

I don't think GCH room service starts before 6 am. I had thought we might try it out one morning but the timing was too tight.

We're going to be there this Friday at around 7AM even though DL doesn't open 'til 9.

What time does White Water Snacks open?

Hi...this off our Disneyland Hotel room service (express) door hanger...

Thats great info thanks. I have to give them a ring tomorrow to see if I can add a request on my reservation for a certain view (we have a theme park room booked), I will ask about this then just to make sure.

We used Alberstons. For some reason the zip code for the CGH was not one that Safeway/Vons will deliver to - or I couldn't get it to work anyway.
