Early May is without a doubt the best time to go!

Early May has been really good for my family. But this year it's been packed. Maybe the secret is out. Not sure but MK was packed yesterday.

I have been during May twice, and I have to disagree. October is better. Less humidity (it was hot and a bit humid last week) and the Food and Wine festival is a lot of fun. Plus you can also go to the Mnsshp. May is nice, October is better.:teeth:

We went the first week of May in 2010 and it was way too hot for most of our party - reaching 95 degrees and we were only there for four days so we didn't feel like we could take a lot of breaks. We've since been the first week of April (much better) and the third week of October (perfect.)

So now I'm totally confused. I'm in the beginning stages of planning a trip for what I thought be an awesome time to go...May 2016, and I have been looking at weather and crowd history, which shows that it's typically warm to hot (upper 80s usually), but crowds are lower. However, if it's going to be both hot and crowded then maybe late April would be better? Although I've heard October is really fun with the Food & Wine festival (and that seems to be popular on here), I feel like that's just too far away!

Early May will be hot, but not much different from late April. The good thing is it's typically a dry heat, so it's not that muggy. But remember, you ARE in Florida, and probably didn't go there to be cold :)

Late April/early May (depending on when Easter falls) has been "our time" of the past 9 years, and we love it. The crowds are almost non-existent on some days.

Thanks for the feedback!!! That's what I thought...I'm not too pressed about the heat (I am in Maryland), but I was a little bit concerned if the crowds are going to be heavy (one of the reasons why I'm thinking May is less of those) although I know there will be some days when it's crowded, that's ok, but also didn't want to go during rainy season and it just seems like rain could happen, so will just need to keep my fingers crossed. Easter is the last Sunday in March in 2016, so maybe late April / early May will be my time next year!

Maybe it was just busy because it was Monday. Last year we went to universal and lines wasn't bad at all. Going to animal kingdom tomorrow. Will update later on how that goes

This!!! I was reading the original post and couldn't believe we were at the same place! I just got back from a 5 day trip and it was HOT. 90's but probably even warmer in the parks because it was very crowded! And that was with going to the recommended parks! Although we had a blast, we also said we probably won't come back in May because the heat and crowds were much worse than our usual trips in October.

I'm sorry you guys aren't having the same experience but I can certainly attest to the fact that lines were pretty nonexistent...I got a in front of space for both parades in the magic kingdom as well without pushing shoving or obstructing anyone's view (which I'm always concerned about).

Mine train had a wait as well as Anna and Elsa but nothing that was too concerning. The longest I had to wait in line was for geeze...maybe Peter Pans flight when I was trying to squeeze in more rides after wishes but every other park had no lines.

Maybe because we're two adults without the kiddos but it just seemed very manageable and refreshing...again no bad lines at all. Even a center front view of Fantasmic!

Any questions ask I'm sure everyone has their own opinions but trust me I'm with someone who's the grumpiest person if any lines are over 10 mins and he even said the lines weren't bad at all.

I was at WDW from April 29-May 6, and I found the parks to be busier than I expected. I'm also a bit jealous of the lines the OP found, as the only nonexistent lines we found we at park open. In the middle of the day we hopped in more than one line that was 25 minutes long, as they were the shortest ones to be found.

Our trip was still pretty great, but October still is better imho.:teeth:

I've gone two years in a row during spring break (April) and it was too hot for me, to the point where it was uncomfortable to lounge outside the pool. I can't imagine it would be any better in May. I'll be sticking with early November!

There's been a lot of school field trips this week as well.

I caught one on Epcot other than that it was smooth sailing and they were good kids too honestly!

I'll have a trip report soon but man you guys I'm so sad you didn't have the experience I did!

Don't be sad - we still had an awesome trip! But we may just be spoiled by our fall trips. I wouldn't say the lines were awful, but definitely longer than our last four trips (including a past May trip). And it was uncomfortably hot. For frame of reference, several of our days were 91 degrees and the average high in late July is usually 89. So hotter than late July! And there were lots of crowds in the parks. This may be more r/t FP+ as I know one of the goals of the system is to keep people out of lines and in the parks shopping. All I know is there was a definite increase in wait times and crowds over what we have experienced in September, October, November, March, and one previous May trip.

We usually go around this time of year. We were there this past sun- tues. Arrived at dhs on Sunday around 2:45. Not crowded at all. Mk on Monday, arrived at 10. Crowded, yes, but manageable and easy for us to maneuver the stroller. Ak on Tuesday, Not crowded, but only around Asia.

I have been in April, May and June, and have had our June trip have nicer cooler weather than our may trip. I think it's probably different year, just like December, also, people have different perspectives. I always get hotter before anyone else in my family cause I very fair complected and don't do heat well, especially not humidity, I get a headache everytime I get hot from humidity. I think all three spring months are awesome, but I have also never been later than the 2nd week of June either, I was always afraid of the heat.

I agree. We just got back from a May 2-8 trip and it was beautiful. The crowds were not bad either but I did notice a lot of large school groups with coordinating t-shirts. Didn't really affect my experience though. We have also done late April trips and had a similar experience :)

Don't get me wrong, we still had a great time. The crowds were still a thousand times better than the summer. I was just expecting crowds and weather more like the fall. The schools we encountered were very well behaved, I just think they contributed to the crowds at MK. I still don't want to leave :(

Here now! The lines aren't bad at all (except SWW stuff) but the heat has really been a factor. We've come at this time for several years and this year it's been much hotter. Every day in the 90s with almost constant sun. We've just had to adjust our strategy and took more pool breaks than anticipated!

I agree! Unfortunately, after 9 straight years of late April or early May trips, we're forced to do June this year :(

I would like to know how June is when you get back. We will have to go in June next year (the beginning). We have always been in September so I'm sure this will be a big change!!
