Early May '09 DDP Reviews 1st WDW Trip!

First off, we went as a family of 7 and 4 of us have never been. We, consisted of myself, DH, DDs 4.5 & 2, my DM, MIL, and FIL. I have no pictures of the restaurants and/or food served, but they are easy to find on here if needed and helped me immensely with my planning. We ate on the DDP, but stayed in a villa at SSR, so we had a full kitchen to prepare most breakfasts and snacks while there as we drove down and could shop easily off property. I am only reviewing the items I know were eaten and commented on, as IL's didn't comment on the food much. Many snacks were drinks and fruit, so I won't comment on those, but had 2 that I will! I will try to start reviews during nap time today!

Kona Cafe Breakfast 7:45 am ADR

Arrived 30 mins late (had trouble figuring out how to get there as it was my first time using Disney transportation). Cast members here were very welcoming and nice, we received fast service, and overall enjoyed this meal (I had to try the Tonga Toast as I have seen it talked about so much!)

Me - Tonga Toast w/ Bacon & Cranberry Juice (very delish and lived up to the hype IMO)
DH - Big Kahuna w/ Orange Juice (said ok, but really liked the ham)
DD 4.5 - Mickey Pancakes w/ Bacon & Fruit Cup & Water (loved everything)
DM - Tonga Toast w/ Bacon & Coffee (liked it, but said if going there again, would've gotten the Big Kahuna as it was a tad sweet for her, she was warned ahead of time)

Overall, it was IMO and will be adding this as an ADR for our next trip!

Catalina Eddie's Lunch CS

Decided to share a few CS credits and snack credits (fruit) between us as we were having a large dinner later.

Pepperoni Pizza - my DM tried pizza a few times while in WDW and said this place had the best, dh said it was just ok, I am not too big on pizza - so it was just ok to me also

Salad - (came with the pizza) was just normal salad

Chocolate Fudge Cake - dh got this as often as he could with CS!

Carrot Cake - yummy!

This was good for a CS, but not the best we had!

Whispering Canyon Cafe 5pm ADR

Arrived an hour early to WL as it was extemely hot out and we just wanted to get out of the heat and see what the resort looked like. We all thought it was very neat looking! We were seated on time and waited threw a handful or so of straws on the table. We did the hokey pokey, saw lots of ketchup bottles and large drinks. My 4.5 yr old DD rode around on a wooden stick horse at the end of the meal. We all got the Canyon Skillet.

Disliked by a few people at our table:
Ribs
Beans

Favorites at our table:
Shakes, Smoothies, Pulled Pork, Chicken, and definitely the Mashed Potatoes!!!

Dessert: I had Smores cheesecake and dh said he had some kind of Apple Pie or something. We both loved it!

Overall, we enjoyed it, but not even close to the top on our list of favorites. Probably won't return.

Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe CS

Very busy, but found 2 tables next to each other fairly easy and a CM came to clean them off right away (she also took our trays as we finished eating right away, which was nice as I didn't expect that!)

Me - Chili Cheese Dog w/ fries, Coke, Carrot Cake (loved everything!)
DH - Bacon Double Cheeseburger w/ fries, Coke, and Chocolate Fudge Cake (loved the burger and cake, fries ok)
DD 4.5 - Crustables PBJ, Applesauce which DD 2 ate, Carrot Sticks, water (seemed to enjoy eveything)

We liked this and came back again another day! Would definitely do again on other trips as it is convenient and out of the heat!

O'hana 5:05 pm ADR

Took the boat over from MK. Dh's Aunt who lives a few hours from WDW came for the day also and we were easily able to add her into our party, but she obviously was not on the DDP, but had a seperate check no problem. Arrived a tad early and waitedoutside of the restaurant while our DD's looked at the waterfall and got pressed pennies to keep them entertained. Were called just a few minutes after our ADR time and were given the tour on entrance to our table. CM's were very nice and refilled anything needed right away. #1 fave at the table was the Shrimp (they couldn't keep it coming fast enough for our large party, my 4.5 year old even ate a ton of it!!!)

Disliked:
The stickiness of the sticky wings (LOL), but they brought us plenty of hot washcloths!
Some of the Steak was all fat, while other pieces were excellent

Favorites:
Shrimp (duh!)
Lo Mein
Veggies
Turkey
Wings
DESSERT!!!

We will for sure come back here on our next trip and will even try breakfast (we love Stitch!)

Yak & Yeti CS

Very hot this day and we actually saw someone passed out on the ground on our way to this CS! Lines were short and very outdoor only seating, but found a large table no problem!

Me - Sweet & Sour Pork, Coke, Mango Pie (I was very happy with mine, my DM sampled it and said it was okay!)
DH - Honey Chicken, Coke, Chocolate Chip Cookie (dh said just okay)
DD 4.5 - Chicken Bites, Fruit Punch Gelatin, Chicken Fried Rice, Water (didn't care for her chicken, but ate off our stuff and I sampled her Chicken fried rice and was good!)
DM - Shrimp Lo Mein, Sprite, Frozen Lemonade (she really liked her's and I sampled it and did also)

I would definitely come here again for CS while in AK. I would probably get DD a cheeseburger next time!

Boma 5pm ADR

Started off bad trying to find the place, so we were a tad late! We got off the bus at the AKL, but didn't realize there were 2 stops and we needed the other! A few other groups on our bus did the same! DD 4.5 had fallen asleep at AK, so this gave her a little extra nap time at least! Arrived at Jambo House a little late, but were checked in just inside the main entrance and told to take the elevator down to Boma. Seated immediately, all Cast Members were very nice and attentive. Beginning buffet line was long, but for refills, we just jumped in wherever. I do not have the correct names for everything, but will describe the best I can!

Me -
favorite: kokonut rice (I think this is what it is called) and some kind of nut crusted salmon (very black peppery tasting, but I liked that!)

DH -
favorites, desserts of course! - chocolate mousse in a cup (that's what he called it!), Zebra Domes, Tiramisu

DD 4.5 - was tired so she picked at her food and mostly ate fruit (strawberries especially), but was in love with these things in a pasty cup with a blueberry and stuff on top!

DM - loved the Chicken Pepper Pot
