I did search the forum first before posting and didn't find anything ... so here goes ... and if it was posted somewhere before ... sorry ... but it didn't show up in the search I did.

Yesterday the fireworks show was at 8:40, before the first showing of Fantasmic. It was scheduled that way and appears to be scheduled that way for the future as well.

I'm guessing here that they are doing this because of an agreement to keep the fireworks before 9pm on weekdays and they want to do them for the Mikey's Halloween Party and are keeping the same time throughout.

I asked at the park and the person I talked to didn't know.

I simply think it has to do with Fantasmic. These next weekends have two Fantasmic showings on the weekend nights when it is shown. One start at 9:00pm and the other at 10:15. Fantasmic is about 30 minutes long. If they did the fireworks between Fantasmic shows, the people that watched the first Fantasmic would not move from the area so they could see the fireworks. So, the area around Fantasmic would be packed until right around 10:00pm and another show starts in just 15 minutes! That area of the park would become even more of a nightmare!

If you want do see both, do what I have planned. Granted, I have only been to DL once and that was about 6 years ago, so I am not sure it would work, but it sounds like it will!

My plan this coming weekend is to watch the fireworks at 8:40 in front of the castle. This will be my first time (and only time this trip) seeing the "Remember" fireworks so I want to make sure I get a good spot at the castle. Then I plan on slowly heading over to the Fantasmic area. I know I have about 30 minutes to waste from the time the fireworks end until I need to get over to Fantasmic to deal with the crowds and find a good place to watch the show.

when they changed it last summer, it had to do with the timing of WoC, Fantasmic!, and the fireworks...

Actually that IS how they do Fantasmic!/fireworks, at least in the summer. The fireworks are after the first Fantasmic! and before the second. If you have preferred seating for the first Fantasmic!, you can actually stay in your seats and watch the fireworks. I'm not sure why it's different now...I know they get earlier and earlier into the winter. The problem isn't solved the way they have it now, either. Since the fireworks take about 15 minutes, by the time they're done, Fantasmic! will be starting in New Orleans Square, so you can't watch fireworks from the hub AND go to the first Fantasmic!.

You make a good point about WoC as well. I know that Disney never wants to have Fireworks going off during any of the other nighttime shows. It really becomes sort of a balancing act when you have three night time shows, two of which are shown twice each night. Thats 5 different shows, 4 of which are roughly 30 minutes long and the other is roughly 20. So, you have 2 hours and 20 minutes worth of content that has to happen without noise from one causing issues with the other, and having to get it all over with quickly.

All of this of course depends on the month/day. Now all these shows are not shown every night, but the night there are it is a lot of moving parts that all have to work together to keep the timing right.

I'm really scratching my head about the last summer statement because I swear they were still at 9:35. We can often hear them from our house and I really thought they were still going off at 9:35 ... but I honestly don't remember checking the clock evey time either.

The WOC reasoning seems to make sense, because for several years they've done F! then fireworks and then another F! show. It was very common, and actually encouraged, to just stay after F! and watch the fireworks. They even piped the music over there for you.

As for watching fireworks from the hub and then making your way over to F!, that just won't work. People start camping out three hours before show time. The area is full by 8:00.

Something else really strange. I came over from main street right about as the first showing of F! was ending. I came around to the area near the riverboat dock. They stop foot traffic there to let everyone exit the F! area. By the time they let you out and you make your way over to the F! area for the second show, the area is already full. People coming from other areas near New Orleans Square and near Pirates are all filling in the spaces.

We had the premium reserved seating and had already picked our seats so it was no big deal, but I can see how those who don't really know how this thing works would be upset.

The early fireworks must be as a result of WOC and not wanting the noise filtering over.

The issue was when they were running 2 WoC, with one at 8pm (the second at 915p.). Then they had fireworks at 840pm, and Fantasmic at 905p.
