Early entry without ADRs

She is talking about what she noticed on her LAST vacation, and what has been on her mind. She's not planning this. She's idly thinking, and asking a group of other people who think about Disney more than your average person.

You are pretty good at reading people minds I guess.
Almost anyone would be defensive, even when innocent, with someone saying what you said....
Speak for yourself

Having said all that - I am out and not going to argue people I don't know. I just voiced my opinion and you are looking for trouble. This forum is not for arguing ..but for simple discussions... Have fun vacationing...And I mean it from the bottom of my heart, no sarcasm :cool1:

Whoa guys... relax. I didn't mean to have people arguing back and forth. Sorry!!! :grouphug:

Seriously, I do think about things more than most people do. And honestly, most of it revolves around hypothetical situations (like the idea of someone getting into the park without ADRs).

Another example... The other day I was thinking about the whole celebrate thing with Disney, where you get in free on your birthday. I showed my ID when I went on my birthday, but I know children have to show birth cert's. So here's my thinking... who's to say that you don't put your childs name down as your nephew/neices name who happens to have a birthday during your trip. If you had their birth certificate then your child would get in free, because a birth cert doesn't have a photo, and they cant say the last name doesnt match... he could be stepson? See what I mean... it's very easy to do things wrong... and sometimes I just wonder if other people encounter problems like these.

Point being.... I would never do something like that. Number one, I'd be too scared of getting caught, number two... cheating the system only makes things harder in the long run because it will come back to bite you... and number three- my kids would be the first ones to call me out if I ever tried to lie.

So alot of times I do think backwards like that. My mom always said I should be a detective :rotfl: Of course... I have a degree in social work and a degree in early childhood education, yet I work as an STNA. Figure that one out

I think Disney should hire me to come up with ways to catch people who cheat the system. That would be a good job for me :thumbsup2

Please dont fight over this guys... it wasn't intended to start a debate. Sorry... it's okay... you can smack me if you want to :headache:

ahhhh I love people that didnt have their coffee or whatever yet and decide to be rude and annoying and instigate. I wonder if they would all say these things to your face in person. Ohhh..I'm guessing not.

And if you couldn't figure out from the OP post that it was just a rhetorical question... ummm... how about you go read the post again?

Or you could do the KTTK tour which lets you in before the park opens.

When we went to breakfast in both the MK and Epcot, they had a printout and checked our names off a list.In fact at Epcot, the Cm had trouble finding our name and actually called PSB at Akershus to confirm we had an adr BEFORE he would let us in.

As was the post that she is replying to. Touche'
How in the world can anyone find this post rude or nasty??:confused3

There was a thread last week or so about booking ADRs you have no intention of using so expect a lot of comments. You are taking a reservation away from somebody by doing that. And if you wanted an ADR somewhere and couldn't get one, you probably wouldn't want to hear about someone wasting one to walk around for 15 minutes early in the park.

Stay til 2:00am on an EMH night, that's what we do. Not too many people on the street then! Plus it's a cool nighttime picture.

She didn't insult the OP and she wasn't snarky.

She pointed out that this has been discussed here in the past and what to expected based on those threads. She goes on to explain why some people take issue with this.

She tells the OP a trick her family uses to get awesome, low crowds, pictures in the MK.

Where is the nastiness ?

At MK there really isn't much that we're gonna do to stop someone that says they have a reservation and doesn't have proof. They go on an honor system with guests. But if you're inclined to go in and take pictures, do it!

Really, when did that start? We have had many ADRs before the park was open, and we have always had to prove it.

I was in Disney World in early May. I had an early breakfast in Epcot and early BBB appt. in MK both well before rope drop. At Epcot they had a list and check us off based on our last name. At MK, I walked by the desk and just said I had a BBB appt. and they did not ask for reservation number, name or anything. Just said have a great day and we walked right through. My first thought was anyone can just walk in MK without an appt. Not sure if this is typical.

We have never been asked for our ADR number at MK. At Epcot, however, we did have to have our ADR number and the CM had a list to check our name off. We always do early ADR's like 8 am at CP. Not because we want to be in the park empty, but because we want to eat and be ready for the rides when the park opens and not waste our time eating!

Of course, an empty park does allow for a nice picture or two. I have some beautiful pics of DD5 in Epcot after we finished breakfast and the park was still closed!

Well, I think it's kind of hit or miss whether they will check your confirmation number or not..... I guess it depends on how comfortable you are with being embarrassed when you get caught and turned away.....

And maybe you don't intend to make an ADR and not keep it, but putting it out there puts it in other people's heads, so it's really not a good idea....

Anyone out there thinking of doing that should just picture a poor little 4 year old Pooh fan crying at home because he wants to have breakfast with Pooh and there are no openings :sad2::sad2::sad2: because someone who HATES Pooh (They MUST hate Pooh to make a CP ADR and not keep it!) ........ wants to scheme their way into the park for better pictures in front of the castle....

I guess I can't see the appeal to doing this:confused3 It isn't like you can actually go anywhere...All the lands are roped off, I don't think the stores are open.So lying about an adr to get in and go where? pics take only a few minutes. What do you do the rest of the time? I am sure Cms will notice a group just wandering aimlessly in circles in the hub.:confused3 Now if you actually are going to use the adr, then it is worth it for the pics.

I'm trying to figure out... how is it that one can type, yet one cannot read? :confused3

Show me where I said I was going to do this... go ahead, I'll wait popcorn::

You didn't actually say 'you' were going to do it, but you did phrase it as saying 'you'....so, the next poster comes along and uses the 'you' as well. It's just a situation where 'you' can mean two things...the general 'you' or the more personal 'you'.

You know.....Disney is very good at closing loopholes. There are always going to be those people that try to 'work the system' in order to get something for nothing. And Disney realizes this. They aren't stupid. Does anyone really think that there is some poster here, who has come up with an ingenious way to 'work the system' and Disney hasn't already thought of it??? Doubt it.
Can you get away with something? Sure. But, it will ruin things down the road for everyone else.
Case in point....years ago there was a group of people who thought they wer doing this wonderful thing. They had a whole group of 'em, and they would all call Disney Dining every day, right at 7am. They would each book CRT for breakfast. Then, they would give those ADRs (PSs then) to the first people who came along asking for them on that particular board...not the DIS by the way. But, this managed to close out entire days for CRT breakfasts for other guests, who were doing it the right way. Disney finally said enough is enough...now you have to pay for the darn thing when you book it.
Or all those people who bought an AP for one of their kids, then booked rooms using the AP discount. Now, you can only get the perks when using an adult AP. Or DDP credit usage......the list goes on and on.

I know that each time we have had to enter before rope drop, we have had our names checked off on a master list. That has been the case at MK, Epcot and AK. Not once were we able to get in without checking with the CM with the clipboard. And that's the way it should be.
You say you want to try booking an ADR, for before park opening, but not use it?? I doubt the CMs are going to allow you to just walk around the park. Only certain areas are open in any case. I know that there was one time that we ate at Donald's Breakfastasaurus in AK. We finished eating about 15 mins before the park opened at 9. But, we were held back...we were not allowed to leave the restaurant immediate area until 9. I would imagine that if a CM sees guests just ambling around, they are going to stop them and question them.

In our experience last week, we had to give our ADR and name at AK for our Tusker House (9:20) ressie. We were not permitted early entry for that ressie even like early at 8:30 entry. Granted they opened the gates at 8:45 for the rope drop ceremony but we really didn't want to deal with that crowd and just wanted to get back to Tusker so we could sit and wait. We were not allowed.

For our 8:20 Crystal Palace ressie on Friday, they didn't ask us anything to confirm our ressie, just let us right in at 8:00.

I would never make an ADR and not show up (oh wait... scratch that... last trip we missed our wake up call and overslept for Ohanas... woops)...

I know what you mean. Last year, I made two breakfast ADR's. One for Kona and one for Cape May. I had duly written down the dates, times and confirmations. Even reviewed my list many times during our trip. Wouldn't you know it, we were a day late for Cape May. :lmao: I kept insisting we had a ressie, and the CM searched like mad for it and kept saying we were not on the list. An Kona, we just slept right through it. I was waking up automatically at 5:30 am every day, so figured no problem for an 8 am ressie, until we woke up at 9 am on Kona day. I felt awful. (and hungry)

My DD3 is on the Autism spectrum and all of our pictures taken by photopass photographers are with her looking away at other people or crying because she was upset (probably about someone touching her or being too loud). We have some beautiful pictures of her in front of the castle without another soul in sight :cloud9:

It's worth waking up for...

That's great...I'm glad you got those shots!

It seems to be lately...We were there last April and had a pre-park opening BBB appointment...we walked right through the gate allocated for early entry with nary a soul checking any names or confirmation numbers. We could have walked through with no other intent then getting into the internal ropes first...

They do not notice nor stop you at MK. When my DD and DW was at their BBB appointment, my boys and I wandered around and ended up waiting at the Tomorrowland Rope for the drop - and as a result were ahead of the crowd from the front of the park. The CM's were not the least bit surprised to have guests already waiting there at 8:45...and there are certainly no CM"s who are on security detail trying to find out why you are there.

In fact, there are half a dozen Photopass photogs who are ready and waiting for the early guest getting the empty park pictures!

It's an un-closed loophole at MK...and it is a good one - but I wouldn't make an ADR and skip it - bad Disney karma and all that.

Same with us. My daughter had an early ADR at BBB. The man at the turnstyle joked that he lets anyone in who can say Bibbity Bobbity Boutique that early in the morning! LOL! Nobody ever checked our # and they allowed my whole family in. My husband, his mother and my son just wandered around taking pictures while I waited with my daughter. She was done with her appointment about 20 minutes before Rope Drop, we got some awesome photo pass pictures of her by an empty castle (with bubbles blowing), and we were at the rope by fantasyland about 10 minutes before they dropped it. It was awesome!
