Early entry without ADRs

You know when you're sitting there and a random question comes into your head... and you're not sure why... but then you can't stop thinking about it?? Okay, well I've been wondering about this all day now!!!

When we were at the world in Feb, we had gained early entry into AK and MK because we had ADR's right at opening time. We showed the CM our passporter book where I had written our ressie conf #'s and away we went into the empty park. Now, I do remember at AK most everything was roped off, but I didn't see any CM's "patrolling" the streets or anything like that.

Okay, so here's the question... since the CM's don't actually "confirm" your ressie number you give them, who's to say that people don't just write down a random number and show it to them to get in, say, 15 minutes early? I know we loved getting that great snapshot of the kids on Main Street on the way to CP for breakfast, with absolutely NO other people on the street. Okay, I'm rambling now... :rolleyes1

So, how do they keep people from entering like 10 minutes early to just to speedwalk where they want to go or get some good photo ops. Or DO they have this problem and I just don't know it?

This is such a dumb question, and to be honest, I'm not that concerned that people would be trying to do this. It's just bugging me because I can't stop wondering about it

At Epcot they had a list and our names were checked off it - I'm not sure why DAK and MK didn't confirm your ressie.

Well, at AK, the girl was too busy chomping her gum and pulling her cell in and out of her pocket to notice what the heck we were doing... I offered to show her our book and she just smiled and said have a great breakfast.

At MK she did look at our book and ressie #, however...

a.) she began talking to us about our kids, and asking if they were twins (10 months apart) and talking to my daughter about her cinderella dress, then wishing me a happy birthday... basically didn't give a lick about where we were going... :confused3

and b.) she didn't have any sort of paper, or list or clipboard or anything like that to even check our name off of... so I'm not sure there even was a list involved...??

Hmmm now another thing.... I reall AM thinking way too much into this, aren't I? :rotfl2:

Okay so, lets save you book a ressie and you don't actually plan to eat there.. you just want to get into the park early??

So your name would be on the list (wherever said list happens to be) and you get the go ahead to go in, but you don't even use that ADR.

I bet people do this....

You looking for a way to cheat the system and that is wrong in my opinion.:sad2: But good luck to you

I don't think they are - they just realized that it was a loophole that OTHER people prolly DO take advantage of.....

There was a thread last week or so about booking ADRs you have no intention of using so expect a lot of comments. You are taking a reservation away from somebody by doing that. And if you wanted an ADR somewhere and couldn't get one, you probably wouldn't want to hear about someone wasting one to walk around for 15 minutes early in the park.

Stay til 2:00am on an EMH night, that's what we do. Not too many people on the street then! Plus it's a cool nighttime picture.

Actually, no... I'm not trying to do anything. Just like detectives say "If I was a felon, this is where I'd hide...". I was just thinking about how people probably do that and wondered if anyone had encountered this. Obviously you didn't read the post thoroughly.

And for the record, the only days you will find me at the park at opening time is when I DO have ADR's. Otherwise, we're too lazy to get there by ropedrop.

If you really honestly thought I was going to try and do this, and you thought it was so wrong, why wish me luck? :confused3

i will blatantly admit that NOW i am considering an early ADR just to see the park 'empty'. :P of course, i mean an ACTUAL ADR to use.

I'm trying to figure out... how is it that one can type, yet one cannot read? :confused3

Show me where I said I was going to do this... go ahead, I'll wait popcorn::

When we got to CP for breakfast, we were about 5 minutes late and I started apologizing profusely while I was shoving my camera back in the camera bag. The CM then said "it's hard to resist pictures without a crowd, huh?". We all started cracking up!

My DD3 is on the Autism spectrum and all of our pictures taken by photopass photographers are with her looking away at other people or crying because she was upset (probably about someone touching her or being too loud). We have some beautiful pictures of her in front of the castle without another soul in sight :cloud9:

It's worth waking up for...

At MK there really isn't much that we're gonna do to stop someone that says they have a reservation and doesn't have proof. They go on an honor system with guests. But if you're inclined to go in and take pictures, do it!

Last time I checked don't the two places where you can get ADR are character breakfasts at MK and they take a CC to prepay?? I haven't done the early morning breakfast in awhile. I also think it would be really rude to make an ADR with no intention of keeping it.

I think it would be very rude also. We just booked Crystal palace and tusker house this week for our sept trip (those were the two places we went when we got in early)... and neither required a CC to hold it.

If it were up to me, I think ALL restaurants should require you to have a CC on file for a no show. The last day we were in MK in Feb, I overheard this woman in one of the shops saying she booked crystal palace for 5pm, 6pm AND 7pm and whenever their daughter got fussy/hungry they would use that RSVP. She was pretty much bragging about it, too. :sad2:

I would never make an ADR and not show up (oh wait... scratch that... last trip we missed our wake up call and overslept for Ohanas... woops)...

Why so defensive? I am not trying to start anything here, just voiced my opinion. I did read the post and I would never think of anything like that to do, it is just not fair to others and cheating isn't really my thing. But I did wish you good luck, because I don't really care what you do - so I hope you get what you want and enjoy your vacation.

Soooo...you wouldn't have minded being charged for that with a CC on file?

She is talking about what she noticed on her LAST vacation, and what has been on her mind. She's not planning this. She's idly thinking, and asking a group of other people who think about Disney more than your average person.

Almost anyone would be defensive, even when innocent, with someone saying what you said....
