I've heard that there is early entry to DCA if you are staying at the Grand Californian...is that true? How early do you get in/how does it work?

I don't know of early entry.

There is a seperate entrance into the park through the GCH. You can easily be first to Soarin or GRR and maybe the rush to TSMM through this door.

Not any EE into DCA that I know of, other than what the PP mentioned.

They do have a pre-open power walk thought the park on certain days though. Not exactly the samething, but you get to power walk though a basically empty DCA.

Generally BOTH the GCH entrance and the main entrance to DCA open 30 minutes before the official park opening (ie. 9:30 for 10:00 open). Soarin is open at that time and you can get Soarin fastpasses.

These days everything must be prefaced with the disclaimer: No one knows how WoC will impact this, so stay tuned!

Check out my thread here about "Magic Mornings (early entry)" at the Disneyland Resort:

Is MM offered at California Adventure also?
Different from WDW, MM is only offered at Disneyland Park. However, DCA almost always opens half an hour early to allow all guests to ride Soarin (only) and line up for rope drop (particularly helpful for getting on Toy Story Midway Mania with a short wait).
