I know this will launch a firestorm, but please keep in mind that I'm only asking....

My brother in-law just returned from a stay at BWV, and he claims that no one ever checked to see if they were on-site guests, and believes that anyone will get in early on EE Days.

Like I said, don't shoot me down for asking, but honestly, do they check every guest for a resort card?

Now I'll get ready to be blasted, but for the record, we are staying off-site, and will NOT be trying anything nasty!!!

We did early entry once last August, and nobody asked for our resort id's.

We've never been asked on several trips. But, we're staying off-site this May, and I'm not going to try it.

My husband and I just got back Sunday from a weekend trip, and we were planning to eat dinner at 'Ohana and watch Wishes. We had it timed to where we would arrive in Orlando around 5:00, plenty of time to get there. Well, we stopped for gas about an hour and a half from home - thank goodness we weren't much further away - and my husband realized he didn't have his wallet. I had all of our money, but he didn't have his driver's license. We turned around and drove all the way back home - causing us to miss 'Ohana's and Wishes, but I just knew if he didn't have it, that he would get asked for ID at the turnstile (we have season passes). Of course, we never once got asked, and he has been asked for that on several occasions before.

I just wouldn't want to go unprepared. Of course, you could always try as long as you're prepared to sit and wait for an hour if you're turned away.

Sometimes we get asked for ID and sometimes we don't. But, honestly, why even ask unless you are planning on trying it?

This was a few years ago but we stayed at the Contemporary and we had to go walk our dog. It was EE at the MK and as we went to the kennel there was a hoard of people lined up at the gate to get in an hour and a half before the normal opening time. Because we were on the resort monorail we were on the other side of the gates.

We walked our dog and passed by the gate and I had to wave and smile and skip away from all those people! It was mean I know but for once I was the "special" one! ::yes::

Somehow we got EE and they did not. Have they changed it since then?

Because there is "Policy" then there is "enforced Policy"

Sometimes rules are on the books for CMs to fall back on when they have a troublesome guest. I for one will only use EMH if I am staying on property. But, since I plan on never staying off-property again, it isn't a problem :)

EMH is a bonus for on-property guests. It would be nice if people would just go along with the rules and not require stiff enforcement.

I have an idea... The resorts have to print your resort room key card anyway. Why not be able to turn in your tickets to them and have the passes transfered to your resort keycards. Make life much simpler for me. Besides I like the plastic cards better anyway. I'd pay a buck extra per ticket if they would print them on the credit card style plastic.

We've been many times and are always asked for Resort ID on EE days.

We've used EE a lot on our trips. Sometimes we're asked for resort ID and sometimes we're not -we're asked more often than not, it seems. I don't know about anyone else, but I think it would be horribly embarassing to be turned away because you don't have resort ID.

I can honestly say that last year we were asked each time. However, the year before I don't think we were asked once. I guess it depends on who is at the gate.

Same with security checking the bags. We went to MK two days in a row. The first day security checked every nook and cranny of everything we were bringing into the park. The next day, security hardly even checked anything. Just depends on who you get, and in the case of checking resort ID for EE, they might be told to spot check or to check certain days.

T&B

We got asked to show our room keycards when we entered an EE day at MK, because we were using PHP. That was over a year ago.

I have seen people turned away when they did not have a resort ID. One guy even put his ticket into the machine and had walked throught turnstile when the CM asked to see his resort ID. He didn't have one, so she showed him the way out.

Doesn't it take a little bit of work for someone not staying on property to even get to the park gates during EMH? Seems to me you'd have to have access to Disney transportation or already be "inside" the system to do it. If you drive in and park, aren't you held up outside of Disney transportation with no way to get to the park entrance to even try to get in? Could you grab a bus at DTD and sneak in?

I'm not saying it can't be done, but it seems like it would require more planning and effort than it would be worth.

For MK all you need to do is park at TTC and walk to Poly, then grab the resort monorail. Having an early PS for breakfast at any resort will get you in their parking lot, then use Disney Transportation. There are ways for the stuborn to do it. I'm glad they check IDs at least periodically. I've always been checked the times I've used EMH.

We have been many times as well, and always do EE. We have never been asked for ID. But, if I ever stay off site (probably won't happen) we would not take advantage.

Our last visit was in 2001 and we were asked every time. As to the question about only using Disney transportation, we always rent a car and drive to the appropriate parking lot.

On my fabulous birthday trip, we drove to the MGM lot on Saturday am (1/31), and were asked to show our resort ID. The CM had one from back in 2000, and I joked with her they needed to at least give her one with a picture of Tinkerbelle to show what she was looking for. We are AP holders, and once at MK at the TTC, security was asking for tickets so I dug out my AP (guess he thought we all had them on room key cards). Those are the only times I've been asked for ID info at EMH.

We also were asked each time on our last visit. They would make announcements that we had to show our room card. Others just waiting until reg opening time, were asked to move to another line.
